I accidentally used my old phone to my old account when I called ebay for my new account , am I now linked ?

I highly doubt there is a link. The only way its a link is if the rep manually enters in the number and sees that it was used for another account. Ebays system doesn't automatically record every number used to call in then stores it to see if its linked to another account lol.

The only way is if OP actually put their number in to the dial pad when the computer voices asks to enter in a phone number to look up the account. It also detects your number when you just call in with out a passcode.

No one technically knows what exactly they store as info we can only assume but I would find it VERY hard to believe their system is that advanced that they track via EVERY phone number used and DON'T track us via MAC address.

Well if i said "no" others might take that as " oh he said no...so its ok to do that"

Thats why i said the short answer is yes. Because he used info from a banned acct. Which he should not be doing. (Dont you agree?) I didnt feel like explaining everything you just said.

personally, i dont think so because I have been doing this with a few accounts... every time you call in, you will either enter the ebay pin number and have it direct to your account or provide the phone# that was used to set up the account... been calling in with the same phone for a while now. none of these account have been limited yet so i'm not sure.

Looks like no one really knows for sure. More testing is needed before a definite conclusion can be reached.

But, in this scenario, it doesn't really matter. The deed is done. If they linked you, you will find out soon enough. But worrying and/or posting here won't change it either way.

Best to avoid it, in case they DO track the #'s. But if someone is feeling adventurous, feel free to test and report back. :thumb:

Because if you don't know for sure telling someone yes they're linked makes them worry more than neccsecary imho

I made a thread a while back about accidentally not changing my emails to "not display images" in all my emails. Well I made a thread and a couple long terms just flat out said I'm linked and I can expect a suspension email soon etc etc

Well none of that ever happened but did I worry more because of it? Yes.

It's easy to say not worry about something that doesn't affect you but what if his account is a powerseller that makes 3k monthly...

This is how I make a living so any issues with my account I worry, it's only normal. You have to have an element of paranoia to be a good stealther because if you don't your just asking for trouble.

thanks guys, It actually wasnt my contact number on my old account but a phone number I called with my old account before.

Mean to use the other phone but picked up the wrong one. and realized half way in the conversation.

I will keep you updated to see if anything happens.

It also wastes a lot of time, as well as making you less productive since you spend half your thoughts worrying "what if?".

Caution is recommended, paranoia is foolish.

Caution, paranoia, whatever. It works for me. Forces me to cross my Ts and dot my I's. Keeps me from getting sloppy

Mistakes happen. Don't reuse information if you can help it.

The bots don't necessarily flag EVERYTHING, but if a lot of little stuff gets picked up and accumulated the bots might get kick it up the ladder to a human, and THEN you're screwed.

Haha I almost did the same thing. I hesitated when calling about my 2nd account being link to my first suspended account, thank god for it. Keep in mind I didn't know stealth then.

Answer is, not necessarily. People can lose and gain new numbers all the time. There is certain precautions we have to take to remain stealth. Like everyone said, don't do it again !!!!
