Paypal - No more option for giving EIN instead of SSN??
 

Hi. I just opened an account with paypal. I have my EIN number ready. But when I tried to upgrade it to business account, the only option they request is SSN number. Is it because I chose "sole proprietorship" for the business?? I am also establishing an LLC, I tried to change it to LLC but it doesn't give me the option to change it anymore. (I can change other options like business type and monthly sales but not this(choosing from sole proprietorship, llc, corp..etc))
So, now, every time I not log on to paypal, it is asking me to give SSN to finish upgrading it to business account. Should I email paypal and say I chose "sole proprietorship" by mistake and let me change it to LLC?? Then, will they give me an option to put EIN??
Or, should I just forget to upgrade it and just start selling with the account and wait until they ask me for SSN or EIN or TIN when it reaches 200K sales??
And so, now, the EIN number that is attached to "sole proprietorship" will not work with paypal whatsoever??

No. Not limited yet. But in order to upgrade it to business, I have to put SSN they said.

Hi. I’m new and also interested in this. I’m having the same issue. Started to open up a business acct and they asked for the last 4 digits of my Soc Security number almost immediately. Any help is appreciated.

I believe you just put in the last four of the ein from what I remember.

Last week I had to add tax info or become limited. I had gotten an ein last recently. When I went to to make it a business account it asked for date of birth and social security number.
I used last 4 of the ein and real birthdate. Not a stealth account either. Real name but have been previously limited on an old account.
Once I added that I then was able to add the ein
Hope this helps but not a stealth account. If new ein the system won't recognize it until about 2 weeks for system to update. Make sure business name matches on both irs when obtaining ein and PayPal.
They haven't asked for anything else and tax info notification is gone.
However Thursday I was able to sign up for Ayden and now won't be using PayPal.

Try changing the business type to corporation and you should be able to enter the EIN number instead of the SSN. I had this come up a few weeks ago and it had me stumped until I gave it a try changing it to corporation under the business type.
