Default display price of listings with variations

I wonder, how do they do a listing, that shows a price like "XXX - YYY", when I open it, it shows "XXX", but when I click on any variation, price changes to "YYY". Can't see an options like "default listing price" anywhere. Please advice.

That's not something that you can control, sometimes it will show different prices, sometimes just one price(usually the highest within the listing).

Studied it a bit. For me, it shows the cheapest price of all variations. So edit the most unpopular variant to have a 0.99 price, and your listing will be displayed as "from 0.99".

Yes, that's the typical method people usually undergo, but it doesn't mean that the cheapest price will always appear on the results page under your listing.
