Abandon or not? A sudden limit raise on a restricted linked account

Not sure how eBay's so called system measures account performance. My account in Hong Kong was linked to my sister's account in the U.S. due to using the same credit card.

At first, eBay staff told me there's no way to unlink the accounts and there's no hope of removing the suspension on my sister's account as her suspension was indefinite.

A few months later, without calling in, my account's selling limit has been raised from HKD35,000 to HKD300,000 by their SYSTEM.

My current account seller ratings then dropped to below standard which led to a selling limit drop to HKD35,000.

I'm thinking about working my selling limits up again since my seller performance will go back to above standard on the coming 20th.

I want to know if any one has experience on their account being linked to a indefinite restricted account and can still get their account selling limit raised after hard work and using their limit to the max.

If I can't get this account's selling limit raised again, I will abandon it and start a new stealth account.

The system sometimes does unusual things. You're lucky, I've never come across anything like this before.
Make the most of it, though I wouldn't rely on it too much due to the fact that it is still linked to another restricted eBay account.

Hi Shekibi,

My eBay account was linked to her account because I borrowed her credit card to subscribe for a eBay store. Is it common for accounts to be linked from using a family member's credit card?

Yes, for sure.
A credit card is a unique number and if it is used on 2 accounts then it makes it very obvious, you should have used entropay instead. You just need to give them your card details and then you can create different VCC, which you can use for both eBay and paypal without any problems, you can also delete it and create another VCC with a different card number :)

I would definitely get a few stealth accounts. But also, I would not abandon the account. I wouldn't leave too much money in PayPal, but the account may be a survivor. If your account was otherwise clean and you explained to them that you borrowed the credit card to pay for an eBay store, they may not feel the need to close your account. It all depends on WHY your sister's account was restricted.

For example, if there are 3 people in a household, each with their own eBay and PayPal accounts and one of them has an account closed for selling counterfeit merchandise, then the other two will most likely lose their accounts as well. Why? Because eBay knows that the likelihood is very high that the other accounts are selling counterfeit merchandise also, or will try to since the offending account was closed.

But not EVERY linked account is closed. It all depends on the circumstances.

Hi there,

My sister's account was suspended indefinitely for cancelling too many bids on selling things that she got from the outlet and thrift shops. Not sure why they are so strict about bid cancelling. I know it leads to unhappy customers. But it's not serious enough to get an account suspended indefinitely. Anyway, eBay does things that are irrational so the hell with their system. They screw me up, I screw them back.
