I am a seller, i won a eBay case, and it got closed i was wondering since they paid through PayPal on eBay can they dispute it? |
| slokor | 09-22-2015 07:56 AM | Re: eBay Case Closed I believe since the answer is yes.
And even worse - if they lose the case through paypal they can still dispute it further by filing a chargeback directly with their credit card company (if that was used for payment of the auction). |
| james13v | 09-22-2015 08:14 AM | Re: eBay Case Closed Pretty sure paypal will not allow a case to be opened, after it was closed on ebay to the sellers favor.
As far as charge backs. What was the reason for the case in the first place? |
| yankee | 09-22-2015 08:17 AM | Re: eBay Case Closed The honest answer is a buyer CAN open an ebay case, paypal case and a chargback and even at the same time but ebay and paypal do not promote or advertise this at all. They have weak systems in place to avoid it actually, such as automated prompts to the original case etc..
Now that is very rare and I would say you really have pissed someone off to do this. If it is buyer remorse, then odds are they will go away. |

And every time I've had a paypal case and asked them if the buyer can still open an ebay case, they say absolutely not. So even if for some strange reason, They are ABLE to, I see no reason why either ebay or paypal won't close the case nice and quick.
I've almost always manage to win in situations, as long as you talk to the right people. But I bet most people give up after the first phone call. |

Jeff recently put up a thread about how buyers can open cases on both, but it has always been that way since ebay started handling cases 5 or whatever amount of years ago.
In all reality, ebay should NOT be involved in cases. It is the credit card processors problem. But they want to earn buyers loyalty with this. Paypal is much more cut and dry, like it should be. Ebay's solution is to adopt Amazons mentality. Great for simple disputes and sucks for everything else, especially buyers remorse.
Anyways |

No sure if I can open a case manually. | I can explain how it can happen in PM if you want. People who do that are professional double dipping scammers. On my big accounts Paypal used to make ebay credit my fees when it occurred. I don't know what will happen now seeing as ebay and paypal are operating independently. | | All times are GMT -5.
