it was a 3 month old account with no feedback, I sold quite a few but went down in 2 days

You should always start with low risk items and get some good feedback and then you will be good to start selling electronics.

Waiting 3 months with no activity on the account is pointless imo. You can start selling the first month build up some feedbacks but you have to do it slowly.

Is there no option to appeal the restriction?

Did the email say you can apeal the restriction?
If it didn't I doubt you would be able too. But you can try..
