How much do you make on eBay?
 

I know its quite a personal question but I was curious as to how much money can be made on eBay. I was selling around £250-500 a day before my account was restricted but I wasn't fully invested with my eBay and if I spent more time and effort I think I could have exceeded that amount. I sell different electronic items and I plan to sell more with my new account once it gets going.

So yeah, what are other people making? What category do you sell in? And are you making this on a stealth account?

On my own account before it got restricted if I started making more than normal or received a lot of sales in a short space of time eBay would sometimes request information like my id, bank statements etc so I'm worried about that happening when I make my stealth account. How do you go about that if it happens?

People don't like answering because if others think its low then people think you're a donut, if its high people either think you're lieing or showing off. But I'm not bothered about either so I'll answer lol.
Sold £45k last month, 15k on my websites,18k split between 3 big stealth accounts and my legit one. Then 5-10 accounts hitting 1-2k a month. Only paying myself £5k a month, would be around 15k net profit but I just buy more stock and spend more on advertising.

You know you're supposed to register for vat if you hit over 84k a year? Completely ruins your profit

I know guys who earn like 100k per month. Not sure what their real profit is, but turnover is like that.

I run a couple websites too which have there good months and bad months but eBay is usually consistent which I like but I always feel much more anxious selling on eBay because I'm always just waiting for something bad to happen. My first account is temporarily restricted at the moment because eBay want more details, I've sent that over and currently waiting for a response. I am the same and also put a lot back into my businesses and take a smaller chunk of the income but I suppose its best to do that so you can continue to grow.

yeah I hate ebay, feels like nothing money, prefer to get £50 on my website than £150 on ebay.

I'll say the same thing I always say. What you pull out of it depends on what you put into it. Not everybody has the goal of making millions of dollars. For some members, a few hundred extra dollars is all they want, it makes life a bit easier and can be done very part-time. For others, it is providing a nice living and they are content with a few thousand a month. They can work maybe 20-30 hours a week, spend time with their kids and earn enough to live well. And for others, they want $20k in profits a month. It IS doable. But then it is a full time job and many times people works at it much longer than 40 hours a week. I know one forum member who said he works eBay and Amazon from the time he wakes up each day until the time he goes to sleep.

For some, it is a family affair. The husband and wife BOTH work at it. They have the kids help with shipping. Some people hire employees. Or have a business partner. Or a combination of some or all of that.

Again, it depends on what your goals are.

To add to what Jeff said, it CAN BE A BUSINESS that is run like any other big business with investors and employees etc..

Just look as Under Armour, Best Buy, Target etc... all adding significant revenue via ebay.

I make enough to make this a full time job and invest into my passion of real estate. Once I have enough units, I will quit ebay for good. So for me its my future but there is times when it does become stressful. Overall I like it and will continue doing it and learn new stuff.

Yeah I do find it stressful as well. I was selling a lot a few years ago and just gave up because of problems with scammers and eBay always siding with them just because they are the buyer. I was sick of the way eBay treats its sellers so I decided to make my own website selling stuff which really took off and I have done that full time ever since. Its just recently I have got back into eBay and starting again so I'm hoping to take it further this time. Its nice to see so many people doing so well on eBay though!

Yeah and you don't have to pay massive amount of fees every month with your own website. If eBay were better to their sellers I would feel a lot better about it but they are so unpredictable.

Just wondering do you sell on a lot of different accounts or do you just stick to one and have back ups? I wasn't sure whether to start selling on maybe 2-3 accounts.

@HAHlala I sell on 10-20 accounts, when I get more I will rotate with those.
