Changing IP address via MAC Address on Router

So I've been using my Sprint phone to tether my internet connection, but I'm getting tired of the slow speeds.

I know it's possible to change your IP address manually via changing the MAC address.

Someone point me to a thread with a walkthrough. I have Time Warner Cable and I have two routers: A TP-Link and an ASUS.

Thanks.

This changes the PC's MAC, not the routers...

When you change pc's mac - you get new ip. From your router. It's like new computer. Though I'm not sure whether it's enough, if you have static IP from your provider. Need to google ) I use ADSL and I don't need to change mac. ipconfig works very well ))

I tried two different MAC address changers, and neither changed my IP.

I know that Time Warner Cable services half the US. Someone here must be using them and changing the IP. I know all consumer connections are Dynamic unless you pay extra for a static IP.

Re: Changing IP address via MAC Address on Router

I flashed my router to a dd-wrt router anf it gives you sn option to clone your MAC which gives you a new IP. There is a learning curve to doing this and there is a possibility of bricking your router.

Its fool proof once you clone your MAC. Also you need to verify your IP can change. It must be set up with DHCP from your service provider. Like users who have AT&T UVerse cant do this bevause theyre IP is static in order to wstch TV uninterrupted.

It turns your router into a $600 router. I THINK it can only be a linksys router. You csn look it up on tbe ddwrt site. There are other router user interfaces thst allow the use of the same thing but im not sure which ones.

I've thought of getting these on thr msrketplace here but TBH i dont want to deal with the help desk portion of it. Anyway hope that was of some help.
