Link to article on ebay lawsuits from e-week website (O.T.?)

Was surfing around and saw this article on e-week site, titled:

"eBay Dealers Sell Counterfeit Software, Lawsuits Allege"

It isn't exactly current breaking news, but interesting in that it gives some insights into the whole 'us vs. them' game (or not a game really once the feds step in!) in regards to anonymity, or lack there-of; possible impact on ebay rules, and mindset in a miniscule way!, etc... I just thought I'd post a link if anyone has an interest over here!

eBay Dealers Sell Counterfeit Software, Lawsuits Allege

Here's a tidbit from article:

"The SIIA contends that eBay should take down an auction immediately when the associates find evidence that a dealer is selling pirated software, he said.

Furthermore, the SIIA wants eBay to stop the practice of disclosing the identities of people bidding on software before an auction closes to prevent sales of more illegal software behind the scenes. "......

Sucks for the people buying and selling pirated software.

LOL! :p

I was looking at it more in terms of influence on ebay practices like when they changed the whole view of bidder's list if the amount is over $100.00, or whatever they deemed too much $$ for the world to know who was bidding... Sure seems to me like ebay caved to the demands from the outside influence of the SIAA.

"...furthermore, the SIIA wants eBay to stop the practice of disclosing the identities of people bidding on software before an auction closes to prevent sales of more illegal software behind the scenes. "......

I can imagine all the ways ebay bends over to everyone that decides their own agendas can be furthered by leaning on them for whatever the case may be...which ALL of it, in the end, means the usual new crop of ridiculous and outrageous B.S. hoops the sellers need to learn to jump thru and carp.

Ah yes, well that too. :p
