Buyer scamming me and opening paypal dispute? help

Not about eBay but since I know a lot of you own websites I thought some of you might be able to help.

I own a couple websites as well as an eBay store but a new website I created made quite a bit of money in the first few weeks and has been doing well since so I decided to sell it as I really couldn't be bothered to run another website as I didn't have the time. I posted on another forum and sold the website to someone. As well as the website I gave them all the business information, social media pages, supplier/manufacturer information.. basically everything!
Not to be mean but the person did seem a little slow and asked some pretty stupid questions but I put it down to the fact that it might be their first website so for the last 2-3 days I have been emailing back and forth constantly with them helping them get set up and ready to run the business.
But today I woke up to the dreaded email 'you have a new dispute on paypal'. The person who bought the website from me has opened up a dispute to get the money back (a few thousand worth) and said 'its not as described'. The buyer never once emailed me saying anything was wrong and since receiving the dispute I have emailed them over and over with no response from them.

What can I do? I have told them that since I have given them everything and all the business info they cannot have a refund. I had already told them prior to buying it that it was a final sale. Will I even have a leg to stand on? Since its not a physical sale and I can't just provide tracking info what can I do? I was just going to escalate the case to paypal and show them proof of the sale and that they have ownership but worried that paypal will side with them. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Escalating the case with Paypal and attempting to explain your situation is probably all you can do at this point. Paypal is pretty familiar with digital goods, so there's a chance they will side with you.

Yeah I think I might just have to do that. The worse part is they are foreign and speak pretty bad english so trying to reason with them and get an explanation is not working at all.

Perhaps because you are trolling??

If I'm not mistaken, trolls are the characters who post in a thread with nothing to contribute.. right?

Wow, hard situation...For my experience I never knew what to expect from PayPal, but in some of the most weird and doubtful cases Ive had opened, I called them for assistance and I luckily got them on my side... So you never really know. Try to explain as much as possible. In this cases I actually liked to act slowly analizing everything...

Good luck and keep us updated!

You are mistaken, obviously.

Trolls post fictional stories for a response.

you should have a record of the domain being transfered? Show paypal that and tell them no refund until you have it back

^^ You started it. My first post was relevant, your's was not.

Anyway I'm outta this thread. I don't have any other useful suggestions. I think calling Paypal and attempting to explain the situation is HAHlala's best bet. As long as it wasn't some shady website selling illegal stuff, I think the right Paypal rep will side with you.

Thanks everyone. Emailed the person telling them that if they didn't close the case by the end of today that I would be giving their name and address to the police for internet fraud and guess what happened? Case was closed and full money returned to me.

Thanks for all the help! :)

Be carefull! He opened a dispute - you said to him that you will go to police - he closed dispute.

Now he can do bank chargeback and say that he didnt do this transaction, so theres still chance that he might come back for the money

Im happy for you HAHlala!

With all this said I'd like to ask something. When we sell something (whatever it is) can we state conditions on description? For example, what about if the case continued opened? If HAHlala would have stated on the description, NO RETURNS AT ALL, would it have been valid? There must be some way on PayPal to cover ourselves a little more, agreeing 'rules' like a contract if something goes wrong...

I faced a lot of customers taking advantage of all this abussive things that PayPal does against sellers.

eBay definitely always side with the customer but with transactions through paypal outside of eBay I have found quite a few times that paypal have sided with me as the seller. I find paypal's actually a lot more reasonable when it comes to this as long as you can support your case and give proof then they are usually fair.. in my opinion anyways.

Thank you! I'm not actually sure about that but paypal should take that into consideration. My listing did state that the sale was final but I don't think that matters to paypal.
