Checking buyer feedback before selling (anyone noticed this pattern?)

Has anyone else notice that buyers who send a best offer are much more likely to make a complaint / be unreasonable than buyers who have paid the full asking price?

When I receive a best offer I check the buyers "feedback left for others" tab before accepting If it has any hint of unreasonable feedback I decline their offer and block them. Would much prefer to loose a sale than ruin my 100% feedback score especially if it's lower than by usual sale price.

Does anyone else do anything similar to this?

Best offers I decline - buyers buy on my terms, forget best offers...especially the cheapo lowballing ones

Yes I noticed the cheap people ones who are complainers (or as me and my friends call them support hogs). I am noticing 99% support tickets from same few people.

If you decline best offers why do you offer it as a choice???

I check feedback almost all of the time on best offers, just because I'm able to check out the buyer beforehand. If their feedback is private, they have a suspicious name (at my discretion), they are a competitor, or have given lots of bad feedback, I block them.

That's my general rule but I do make exceptions. I don't instantly block low-ballers because I've gained many a wholesale customer through best offers. They get 3 chances to make you an offer so it only makes sense to TRY to get them up to your price. It doesn't always work but it gives you a chance to explain why you must get your price.

If a buyer buys to many items of me in a short period of time, I ban them. Just because I know they can destroy my feedback if they feel like it. It's great when they message me asking why I banned them.

That's one way to go about it, but you will never develop any long-term trading partners that way. I'm always skeptical about large orders, but most of the time if you do your research it is worth the risk.

I know feedback is important. But you have to take chances if you want to do well. The people you are banning could be legitimate wholesale customers sampling your products. You never know.

I ALWAYS check buyer feedback...whether they are making an offer of they are the high bidder on my auctions. If I dont like what I see, they get blocked. 0 feedback bidders/buyers that create their account the same day or a couple days in advance...blocked. With how strict my bidder settings are set, I can almost guarantee they couldnt bid for one reason or another on my items so they created a new account. See ya.

ofcourse, if someones prepared to waste time out of their day to save a £1 or £2 then they're more likely to be a psycho

We stopped offering Best Offers to avert the cheapskates.

Who buys an item is strictly controlled.
Psychos can jog on.

Yep. I removed "Best Offer" from my listings, as it seems like a honey pot for these bargain hunters, who first get item for a very low price, but then decide that it is still not low enough and open a dispute to get it for free.

People who wants things for really cheap also want the very bet service and seem to complain if anything at all out not a 5* service and delivered the same day

Not worth the hassle IMO

I check out a buyer if I suspect a problem. I have notice the buyers who ask a gazillion questions are problematic.
