Gmail Asking to verify while trying to create accounts

Is it ok to use other free email providers to signup with ebay , the reason im asking is that gmail which is recommended in the Stealth Book keeps asking me to verify a phone number in order to get a gmail account. I have used a differnt user, differnt verizon ip, cleaned cookies , etc etc and no matter how many times I try to get a gmail account it wants me to verify my phone number. Is this normal and can i just use yahoo instead to signup for ebay?

You can use Yahoo as well, just make sure you disable images.

Hotmail is the one I would avoid

Google tracks more than your IP, they are more advance in tracking compared to eBay/Paypal combined. It is scary....
