I have a Stealth with a high limit. Am I able to upgrade to business account, using someone's name as business name, and their real SSN as EIN? My aunt said I can use her info. So I would just say business name is Mary Sue (not real) and EIN is blah blah blah? Or can PP and ebay tell the difference between an SSN and EIN?

You are exposing your account to unneeded scrutiny.
paypal is not stupid.
Never think they are.
Make your business account correctly.

Anyway... I thought this forum was for asking questions and relying on the members' combined knowledge to find solutions to various problems. I have been reading alot of weird, judgmental, condescending responses to posts on this forum lately. I seriously doubt that the forum was like that from the beginning, or else it would never have succeeded. Maybe its time to reset and get back to basics?

A lot of the senior members here are egotists who constantly talk down to un-knowledgeable members, and rarely help anyone. I get so sick of reading irrelevant, condescending replies to simple questions. I think some people here base their self-worth on their aspkin post count.
As for your plan, it's clearly not identity theft since your aunt has explicitly given you permission to use her SSN (which is insanely stupid, IMO, because it could create a huge tax liability, if it worked). But I certainly don't think Paypal would fall for that. The way Paypal validates EIN's is commonly discussed here. They check the EIN + Business name against the IRS database. So since your aunt's name is not a business name, and her SSN is not an EIN, I think this has zero chance of working.
IF you wanted to use her SSN your only option would be to operate a personal account with her information. But I would make sure she understands that this is TAXABLE INCOME which she will be responsible for. You would be much better off just making up a business name, and applying for an actual EIN.

But using your aunts info is not the best choice, because she will be responsible for taxes , if you get on pace to go over both 200/$20K Than Paypal will automatically report your aunts information to the IRS and she will be the one responsible for any taxes. This is something you should make your aunt aware of also if you go the route.
But the best way is to get an EIN , you apply for an EIN on The IRS official website, its no charge, use all your real Information when applying and you will get an EIN instantly
You have a year from the date if you are going to incorporate

Thanks for replying guys. I probably won't even attempt this due to the tax liability issue for my aunt. I read on this forum where people were getting a stealth, then when they needed to verify with SSN, they were getting an EIN with a business name that was the exact name they used to open the account, then giving ebay/PP that EIN instead, pretending it was the SSN of the original stealth name. Just figured this would basically work in reverse, telling PP I was starting a business with the exact name of my aunt.
I would still do it despite the tax issue, just give her the money to pay the taxes I incurred, but I'll just figure out a different way as Family situations can get tricky sometimes.

Personally I would recommend Business account + EIN. It works and you'll have fewer problems down the road. You can go the route of using your Aunt's SSN as well (with the understanding that it's with permission) and that you understand Tax liabilities at the end of the year... good thing about all this is there are a lot of options.

I have a stealth account that has great feedback and is moving along well. It is near the point in which they will ask for SSN. I was just going to abandon it and start another but here is my question.
Say I apply for an EIN with my real SSN , say doing business as (insert business name). I use this EIN on my stealth account that has another persions name on it. When the 1099 is issued it won't have any reference to the stealth name on my account?

There is a fine line with what to do that works, and what does not.
aspkin's post outlines workable options.
