Paypal limited, when does it clear in Jan?
 

Howdy,

Paypal is limited because I never gave up a SSN. That is not the problem.

I went through this before and the account got cleared in January. I know it wasn't on the 1st. Anybody know roughly when a limited account will be cleared for the following tax year?

FYI, the only problem with this account was that I ignored the 1st and 2nd requests and blasted forward until I hit the very max without giving up a SSN for the stealth account.

I am good on advice for managing accounts. I have plenty of stealth accounts and I let a few go limited becasue I get too busy in the holidays and don't want to have TOO many bogus paypals only to carry me through 1/2 of December and another 15 sales.


So my only question is: When in Jan can i expect the limitation to be lifted for providing a SSN / EIN?

I have only had 1 account be asked for SSN per IRS regulations. It was limited, and it never got un-limited once the calendar year came around. I believe that once they limit the account that you have to supply the SSN or EIN.

Now, if you had stopped before it got limited then it would have cleared late January or early February. This was my experience going from 2013 into 2014. so, it may have changed my now.

Bjammin, so you have several accounts cleared of SSN prompt when you leave it alone?

If the request is promoted they "have" always cleared the next year. He is talking about when you get hit with limitation of "Can't close the account or Receive Payments".

I have had this restriction twice once in 2012 and 2013 calendar year. Each reset the following year at the end of January about the exact same time they post 1099Ks for those sellers that have Tax IDs, etc.

It is not necessarily guaranteed for all accounts and may not be in the future. Like one of the other posts I have a friend who went way over the 200 transaction limit on account selling in a single month (December) a few years back. That account was never unblocked.
