Drop shipping question
 

I want to get my feet wet with drop shipping and have a couple of items I know will sell that are based in china (shocking i know).

I suppose I don't mind if the account doesn't have a HUGE lifespan but is there a good way to make some type of longevity doing this? I figure if someone buys it in the US it'll take about 30 days to get the item. Of course I already know there will be people pissed off for waiting so long...

I was thinking I could possibly extend the shipping & handling really long but still people will be pissed. Does anyone have good methods to keeping buyers happy doing something similar to this?

By no means like I said do I plan to make this a long term business but I could waste a couple accounts and make a good 1K per account doing practically nothing. I've always been tempted to do this and since the holidays are winding down its going to be a good time to make new stealths...

Any suggestions will be appreciated :)

The items are low cost $20-$40

everyone will say not to. I would have done it years ago, if I thought it was a good idea..

30 days? it would be less than that for regular shipping....

you can try expedited shipping if the margin allows...

I suppose if you are honest about shipping time, eg say 2 weeks economy and just put 'other courier' and dont specify, and say that sometiimes you ship from manufacturer, you are not lying and they cannot complain on any of those points....

if you make it very obvious to buyer that it will take 30 days you could catch a few buyers. Not a good strategy though.

What will you do about returns? Uploading tracking within time frame. it usually takes a few days to get the proper tracking number.

What about quality control? How will you be sure the items being shipped are in good condition?

I would miss out on uploading tracking, just mark as dispatched.....

It's nothing more than side money ....

The thing is Chinese sellers face problems from USA buyers even when they know its getting shipped from China. It's impossible to please everyone, I'm sure some people buy from China just to complain to get it for free.

I suppose if the account actually takes off and I get some sales then I would just refund them if they want to return it. I could always just have them return the item to me and I just keep it and when it sells again I ship it myself.

It's really just to make some extra cash doing nothing. I wouldn't take it serious like I do on my main accounts. In other words getting a negative wouldn't piss me off as much as it would on my accounts that are making me $$$.

You think it would cause a problem if I upload tracking that they give me into eBay?

Would that cause problems with bots???
