21 day hold gone after a only a week made a mistake & its back on should I ditch acc?
 

Bought a 10,000/50,000 limit account about a month ago. The 21 day hold was gone after only 5 sales in about a weeks time.

Fast forward to last night, I accidentally accessed the eBay home page while still connected to my home wifi. I didn't click my eBay but I was logged in at the time. I made this mistake because of a garbage VPN software called "OpenVPN" that was provided to me by an account seller that isn't optimized well for Windows 10. This software tells you that you're connected to your VPN, when in reality, you're not. Also stays logged into your VPN even if you switch user accounts. Pure garbage, makes it very easy to slip up and I do not recommend anyone use this.

We just got a new internet provider two weeks ago so it is not linked to my banned accounts whatsoever, I haven't touched those in over 6 months. However, the home wifi is linked to my fathers eBay account that is not banned, but is under my home address and was used with our last ISP's IP.

Today, I logged in and noticed that two of my sales have the 21 day limit again. Is this a coincidence? Doubt it. Should I ditch the account as fast as possible and withdraw my money slowly?

it is a glitch you had no holds. Lucky I guess. It has never once happened to me on hundreds of accounts the past 18 months or so I have been stealthing.

So you have a very soft 1 time IP link to another ebay account. Virstually every single one of us that use tethering, a mifi or any public IP from a mobile device are soft linked to countless other ebay users. Those IPs are nearly impossible to have never been on ebay.
With that being said, DONT make a habit of crossing know IPs.

I couldn't believe it either when I saw the holds lifted. My other 1.5 month old account with only a 20/1000 limit had its 21 day hold lifted last week as well.

Ditch the account out of being scared that PayPal is going to lock my funds for 180 days, you think I'm relatively okay as long as I'm more careful?

Ditch a 10k item limit account? C'MON CRAZY TALK

A lot of people have done this, and they've never got suspended/restricted in anyway from it, just keep doing good business, solid performance, and you'll forget about this in a few months.

I'm not sure to what extent eb/pp share information now (they separated and are now completely individual companies as of July 2015) but from what I've read here recently, your PP is usually fine if you're kicked off eBay, and vice versa.

ebay still owns the new paypal company..... Two companies. One owned by the other.

They have a five year agreement to operate the exact same way they have been as far as us users are concerned.

Where'd do you go to read that/source? And since the split you can no longer link your ebay account to your paypal account, only your paypal account to your eBay account (at least on business accs, haven't looked on personals)

As for the split, you can google it and read all about it. Think of it this way, what would happen to the value of all the ebay shares if it lost 80% of its value(by loosing paypal)? Do you think the US government would allow that?

Basically, ebay and paypal spilt to allow paypal to grown on its own. Ebay did not simply give away 80% of its value and wish them luck.

Hmm but do you think they still share info the same way they did in 2014? I've gotten the impression lately that they level of information going back and forth between their systems is less, paypal doesn't even want to have your eBay account on file anymore.

op, you should be fine don't panic you are in a quite a good position actually, don't ditch the account holds can be glitchy but are a necessary evil we all have to deal with

Thank you for the reassurance. I've calmed down a little bit haha. I logged into my other account that also had its holds lifted very early and it also had the 21 day hold reapplied to it. There is no way both of these are linked so I think it is just a glitch. They were created within 1 week of each other.
