24hr eBay Auction

I have accounts that have 24hr auction available and I have that don't. What's the reason behind some have and some don't? I'm speaking of mature accounts here and not new.

10 feedback is the requirement for 1 day auctions.

Exactly why I like to get 10 feedback before selling, can't stand 3 day auctions.

I have a mature account with 30 feedbacks and no 1day auction to be seen.

even with 10 fb if you then list an expensive item it wont be visible straightaway and maybe withdrawn as well

Some categories don't allow 1 day auctions, like software for example only allows 5 day auctions.

Which Category you trying to list in for 1 day?

I have listing on this category on other mature accounts and they have 24hr auction available. I just don't understand why some don't. Could be another glitch?

Well auction listings can often take a good 12 hours to show up from point of creation, that is not really anything to do with item value.

The 1 day auctions also come with a $1 fee increase. Sorry but that fee increase really cuts into profit margins.

Well yeah if you're on that tight of a margin, there's not much to look forward to, might as well go with 7 day auctions or BIN at a higher price.

Huh?

Is this US only then?

Bit off topic, but why would one have 1 day auctions running? Why not BIN type listing in this case?

I only use auctions when I want the item to sell 100% of the time, I just drop the price by 50% and clear some space. Usually I get close to BIN price anyway, sometimes even more.

You will get WAY more sales with auctions most of the time.

So far this week I run 303 auctions. I mix up 1, 3, 5 and 7 days. My one day auctions end at just about the same price as the others but I can really sell a ton of items running 1 day auctions.

So this account has a 330 item limit. The limits are hit already and I will end the 27 fixed price listing and run more auctions if I dont get an increase by Thursday. So far, I sold 5 fixed price listings of the same exact items that hundreds are sold on auctions.

As well as all Yankee has said, I have found that prices can actually go higher for 1 day auctions at times than those on other time frames. I guess it can be a psychological thing, people see it at a low price after it just appears on the search.....people think they are more likely to get a bargain, you can get loads of action on these.

They also serve the purpose of increasing the visibility of your other items for sale as you get the increase of traffic.

24 hour auctions should be used carefully though, think about the auction end time as this is even more crucial than with longer auctions. Also I only normally use it with items I know to have a fairly 'fixed' price. It certainly wouldn't be a good option for rare, obscure or niche items.
