Cheaper items or expensive items?

Just out of curiosity I was wondering do you sell high volumes of cheaper items or smaller amounts of expensive items with a larger profit? Or a bit of both?

For me the items I currently sell are slightly more expensive but not too high priced but I don't sell huge amounts so I was thinking of also selling some cheaper items but I would really need to sell 100's to make good money and I don't know if its really worth it.

I mainly like selling cheaper items, less pressure, less scams... you have to find the right products to get a good profit margin, for sure.

Cheaper items mean more orders, so another key to that model is efficient shipping... having a good system+equipment to quickly pack to keep it from feeling like slave labor is important.

I live everything. BIG volumes of lower profit but higher dollar per item high end and HUGE volume of huge profit lower dollar stuff and a good mix in between.

I like a combination of all 3, high volume low ticket items, medium volume mid ticket items and low volume high ticket items...

A lot will depend on how much time you have to spend on ebay. If you only have a few hours a week then you need to take into account how much time you will spend packing and at the P.O..

both have pros and cons, i find cheap stuff attracts more inr cases and also the buyer expects more ironically whereas high priced stuff need to be described perfectly or costs more to post and the buyer take longer to buy it

I prefer cheap, most of my items are around £10, profit normally £2-3. Maybe just my niche but on £50 items my profit would be £6-7, get a lot more returns which I get a refund myself for but adds in extra hassle for me so not really worth it for me. Cheap items are fast to pack, can get up to 100 per hour done which works out around 12p per item even once you factor in renting a warehouse and paying someone to pack it all once you get big enough

It really depends on how much time you want to invest into your business. If you sell cheaper items this will require more of your time and resource if you don't have the right system in place. But you can move more units.However, High price items you can move less units and this doesn't require as much of your time.

For Example cheap product 200 units = $1000 or high price products 10 units = $1000

Why not just mix it up low medium and high prices?

I do already sell a mix, nothing majorly high priced but I do sell some items as low as £3 and then others as much as £300. I was just curious what other peoples preference was.

My Items are roughly £7 and profit is half that. I do about 40 items daily per account.
That's about all the good there is to it.

The bad...
Processing, parking and visiting the post office every day is time consuming and quite tiring.

I spend about ~ 2 hours daily responding to messages. 80% of them are from people who would not read my listings description. If eBay is a flame, these sorts are moths!

The really ugly...
INR is a huge problem. I've resigned to issue refund and block. You know - closing the stable door after the horse has bolted in the direction of another unsuspecting seller.

I'd say high volume should be used to obtain TRS then you can introduce high price items or move out high volume completely.

I think its agreed that with stealth, doing lower volume, high ticket items poses a risk

best to keep a nice balance and keep great metrics with the helps of cheaper stock

cheap items good for building a foundation to your business. I feel you need them to keep you in a routine, to focus on always selling.

Do you not have a drop and go account with the post office? I just take big bags filled with parcels and sit them down then leave, saves time having to stand and wait for ages.

That would be so useful, because you can waste so much dammmm time at the Post Office.

I think at the end of the day is how much you really value your time. Since time is your real asset so invest it wisely.
