ebay/paypal asking for sort code and account...

Set up a stealth ebay and paypal... all seems to be fine.... I have one this before and no issue it was right through to selling.

Started listing my first item... asks me to enter code... OK no problem.

Then when I press LIST, it says in red zero selling allowance...

So I go on live chat and the ever so helpful lady says I need to request higher selling allowance, OK I thought no problem...

Then it asks me to log into my paypal to link them up or something, and then it asks me for my sort code and account number.. wtf... Am I wrong in thinking this is ebay/paypal voluntarily helping themselves to access to my bank account should they want to?

What's the deal here? The account is used for 1 regular monthly payment which is my rent, it comes in, and I put it out to pay rent that's it..

What should I do here? Is it normal they ask for this info?

They just want you to verify your PayPal account

You do that by adding and verifying the bank account you want to use with PayPal to PayPal

So how did you expect to be able to withdraw funds from your stealth account without giving your bank details?

Personally I would never have any stealth attached to any account I use for the paying of any bills or major accounts, or have any wages/payments coming in from 'real life'. I much prefer to keep all stealth payments separate. If you have to, create a new bank account but do not attach any paypals to it, this will be the main account you use to pay yourself from your stealth activity from. Then on, for each stealth you create, attach a bank account and use this as a 'satellite' around the main account. Transfer money as regular as possible from the satellites to the main account via bank transfer. This is a safeguard and protects you in case you suddenly get shut down or paypal to dip into any account. That way all your stealth money goes into one central account that paypal has absolutely no access to or records of.

Thanks, what about them making me call them up?

I don't have any credit really to be calling.

If they are asking you to call up then generally you would need to call

Worth going back into chat in a day or so though and trying through there again first though after you have bank verified the PayPal

I tried to verify my account, but it said 'not at this moment'.

Not sure why it said that.

1 - Is the bank account linked to other PayPal accounts
2 - Which bank is it
3 - How old is the bank account
4 - Have you made any recent changed on the PayPal?

No fresh bank account.
Bank Acc is about 5 months old now.
No changes on paypal, only set it up 2 days ago.

I use an app called WEQ4U, it gives you free calls on any 0345 etc, i can't use that on my actual phone as they might see my actual number and cross check it???

Or does anyone know if this app WEQ4U hides number etc?

Just go into your mobile settings and hide your number

You should really still just hide the number in the settings... Its the best way to hide a number from a mobile

Have your stealth info to hand and you should be fine

Just hide your number through the phone settings

Phone using your normal number

No need to over complicate things

Nearly all new eBay limits will have low starting limits

They will increase by themselves though as you sell to the limit each month!
