Firefox portable disappeared....
 

My firefox portable has completely disappeared off my computer.

I leave this computer on 24/7, and i last left the firefox browser open, but i came to my PC and my opera browser (and everything else i left open) was open. But firefox is no more....


Under 'uninstal programs' in windows 7 it is not there.

Help??

If i click 'FIREFOX PORTABLE' in my download folder it says error

'COULDN'T LOAD XPCOM'

I have endless weeks of browsing history! have i lost it all???

Try a recovery software, seems odd that the Portable Firefox would get deleted some how.

May be a odd suggestion, but have you checked the recycling bin?

Due to how FFP is installed you can by mistake delete the folder containing the program

I downloaded the firefox portable program which went to my 'DOWNLOADS' folder, i then installed it from there. It created a folder within the downloads folder. So it is all there, but when i click into it to run firefox it hits me with the XPCOM error...



Nothing deleted. Its just closed and disappeared itself. I am baffled.

Yeah, that seems to be the only solution i've found in google too.

Any way to backup my browsing history do you know james?>

Copy the entire folder and stick it on a USB stick is the simplest method

You could also pull the cookies out of FF browser or the folder itself and email them to yourself. I can be a fiddle though so just copy and past the entire thing at the end of each day (which is the method I use) is generally easier

So backup the whole entire firefox portable folder to a usb stick?

Then what do i do?

I cannot even remember what version firefox portable i downloaded originally....

Yep that would do it

You can have 5 or 100 FFPs on one user account (so long as you make sure flash is disabled). All the cookies are stored in their own folders. Very easy to made back ups because of that
