I swear these reps are getting dumber
 

Jesus the things they ask just leave me baffled. I sell some more high dollar items so I need more accounts. I will routinely get the account restricted which I normally get lifted by calling in. Just had this exchange.

Rep: We restricted your account because we had some issues with what you were listing.
Me: Oh ok
Rep: We see you listed a (dont want to say what it is in case they read). Was that you?
Me: Oh yes its mine. Its a personal item. Its used.
Rep: OK let me ask why did you start the listing so low?
Me: Ummm. Because its an auction. I wanted people to bid it up.
Rep: But why so low?
Me: I just thought that helps the auction. In fact when I listed your site actually said to start it lower. I was just doing what the site said.
Rep: Thats true but yours was considerably lower than the prices we are used to. I just searched for the item and the first one that came up is about $600 more than yours. You can search for it and see our concern.
Me: (After searching for item) Ok well first of all this one is new. Mine is used. Secondly this one has 2 hours left. When you took my auction down it had 4 days left.
Rep: We were just worried because yours was so much lower
Me: I think the reason it was lower was because you took it down maybe.
Rep: Ok so do you have more of these?
Me: No
Rep: Alright we are going to reinstate the account. We have to do this just to make sure everyone is selling what they have and such.
Me: I understand.

And that was it :lol:

I almost feel sorry for them. I swear its like they just get a note that says call this person. Then they are just told to make up a reason why they called.

from your script, it was picked up by a bot, then assigned to this rep, his doing his job.

Question...

Why would you honestly start a bid low if it was truly a $600 difference in normal auctions. That's a pretty huge difference. Saying because "ebay says too" doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Getting the reversal of the limitation makes sense.

Same happened with me before, its funny that they ask why when they have it right by your listing to start at .99

But it has nothing to do with that, the account was flagged and they needed to call and check up on the seller, or have the seller call in and than they just ask meaningless questions to keep you on the phone while reviewing the account

The difference was due to 2 pretty big factors

1) Comparing a used item to a new item
2) Comparing the price of a finished auction to mine which had four days left on the auction.

When you list an auction and put your starting price ebay literally has a note that says something like start your auction at $0.99 to attract more buyers or something like that. Its just weird to have that and then ask people why arent they starting the auction out higher. (I didn't start it at $0.99 but it was of course lower than the retail value)

Its like cancelling an auction for an iphone then being like how come your used iphone was only at $300 when it had 4 days left? I just saw this brand new one that completed the full 7 days go for $800. The logic is really screwed.

Goes to show you that ebays system is flawed so bad asking dumb questions. They are a rich company, but there system is so flawed. They don't care. When you care really about something you actually do something.

nope. haha was just using as an example

phones are pointless on ebay IMO. Any phones I have go to craigslist. Demand and resale is so much better.

There is craiglist and then there is the REAL craigslist.

Anyhow :focus:
