| | | pirate1122 | 02-13-2016 12:55 PM | Which Buyers do you Block? I am curious on everyone's practice for blocking buyers.
So which of the following do you block?
1. Buyer leaves negative feedback (with or without contacting you first?)
2. Buyer leaves neutral feedback (with or without contacting you first?)
3. Buyer Opens A case (any type? or a specific type?)
4. Buyer escalates case to ebay
5. Buyer asks questions before purchase (ex. quality, origin, return policy, etc?)
6. Buyer requests discount
7. Buyer requests return / refund / replacement
And any more you can think of. Thanks :D |

| Mitsu | 02-13-2016 08:08 PM | Re: Which Buyers do you Block? I haven't blocked anyone for years... I tend to put aside all pride & principles when dealing with customer service, so customers never end a transaction with a grudge.
Granted I don't sell a lot of high value products so it's easy for me to do this without much loss. |
| vogeltron | 02-14-2016 03:55 AM | Re: Which Buyers do you Block? Anyone who I believe is buying from me to try to resell on eBay or Amazon.
That would be the last one I would add.
Otherwise your list is perfect, I have a huge block list. For me I would rather lose out on 4 or 5 sales than have one horrible buyer try game me screw up my account. |
| phaz0rz | 02-14-2016 08:46 AM | Re: Which Buyers do you Block? My product line is also relatively low-value, so I guess that's why I don't block many buyers. I THRIVE on wholesale customers buying from me to resell on eBay/AZ. I'm confident in my products so I have no reason to block my best customers.
The only time I block someone is if they ask a really stupid question which will obviously lead to trouble down the road, or if they leave negative feedback. Other than that, any and all buyers are welcome. I'm good at customer service and can generally keep everyone happy. |

Low ballers

People who insist on dictating my shipping costs
people who think Im amazon
kids who get the ipad by mistake
dresses that need to be 'rushed' (Special event usually means wear once, hide the tag and return)
locals who want to pay with paypal then pick the item up and claim they never got it.

| Haidukken | 02-15-2016 03:54 AM | Re: Which Buyers do you Block? I have never blocked a user before and I don't plan on doing so either. Why? Because I couldn't care less about certain things? I haven't experienced serious butt****ing on eBay but I can imagine some categories might be more annoying than others.
I still get the "oh my 7 month old dog got a new Ipad for Christmas and bought some of your items" customers every now and again and some are straight up retarded with questions like "Why do I have to pay for postage, I thought Jesus would cover it" but I just move on and never really pay attention to those types of customers.
Let them all come and play, I don't really care who buys the items as long as somebody is willing to buy them! I'm equal rights guy, let them be part of capitalism. |
| just_smile | 02-15-2016 04:28 AM | Re: Which Buyers do you Block? I block those that ask questions pre sale.
There is no need to ask questions for the items I sell.
These people are always trouble. |
| Mitsu | 02-15-2016 04:30 AM | Re: Which Buyers do you Block? Aren't you guys who block early afraid that a buyer tries to buy anyway, finds out their blocked, then comes back with vengeance on an alt acc? |

These people are always trouble. | Thats kind of true- If a person can't read then you are bound to run into problems.
If I sell a metal fork and a customer messages me and asks me if the item that I sell is a metal fork, then I know his/her surname is Avery most likely. Stuupid. |

Exactly. You can have 12 high definition photos, a lengthy description detailing every aspect of the item. And you STILL get one guy who asks questions. |
| XTC4ME | 02-15-2016 07:48 AM | Re: Which Buyers do you Block? I block all of the above. If someone even sounds annoying when they ask me a question then I block them. I don't want to deal with anyone who is a pain in the ass. |
| chicagoIL | 02-15-2016 01:38 PM | Re: Which Buyers do you Block? I sell a niche market collectible ($50-$125) and custom made art (my own)
I block anyone who asks questions when the answer is in the description. I have great pictures and I keep my descriptions short and to the point. If they don't read the description enough to know what they are buying then I want them to go to someone else. They are already showing that I need to hold their hand and they don't know what they are buying. That's trouble.
Anyone who opens any case or requests a return. I am nice and follow the request/return until they are satisfied and the buyer leaves me nice feedback then I block them. I include a typed 1/2 page note in yellow paper with every item I ship. It asks that they please contact me directly via phone/text or personal email (all included) if there is ANY problem or concern when they get their item. I ask to please not open a case as that can limit my selling. If they still open a case, I block when the case is closed and they have left feedback. I have never had a buyer request a refund or open a case that wasn't ultimately satisfied and left good feedback. If they happen to see they are blocked before the case is resolve then they might retaliate so I don't do it until it's finished.
I also block if someone messages me asking why my prices are so high or questions what I am selling as authentic. Please. No one is making illegal copies of what I am selling. Good Grief. That tells me again, they don't know what they are buying and will be trouble when it arrives.

Re: Which Buyers do you Block? I block people who send 9383 messages at 4am in the morning and are upset by 4.05am as to why I haven't replied to them. That is my biggest hate on ebay.
But most recently its when someone bids, wins then doesn't want the item ( waste of my time and a potential sale because these idiots) and messages to say their son/daughter was hitting the keyboard - AS IF!! Blatant lies and this is what frustrates me that ebay protect these sort of people from negative feedback. |
