Hello, Can you open investigation for usps first class mail international?

Hello,

I sent a parcel from USA to Turkey via USPS First Class Mail, the item cost is 350usd, but i wrote low value (15 usd), the package is lost for over 2 months,

Can i open an investigation ? there is no insurance thought :O

Yes.. I guess I have done a big mistake but would like to know if there is anything to do.

Thank you!

Thats the bad part of USPS First Class International, they cant always track it or they wont bother. But it never hurts to call them up and ask.

I opened an "investigation" for an uninsured Priority international order I sent out around Christmas at the request of the customer. I don't know if it helped speed things along or not, but they were able to track down the order and the buyer received it two days after I opened the investigation. He/she may have received it that day anyway, but USPS called/emailed me several times during the course of their investigation with updates, which was reassuring for my buyer and myself.

My order was only going to Canada though. USPS and Canada post get along well so that could be the only reason the order was recovered. With your order going to Turkey and being shipped first class you may not be as lucky.

It's worth a shot. You have nothing to lose by calling the postal service, but $350 to lose by not calling.

You can open an inquiry if you are within the time frame. Some are only 30 days after mailing, some are 6 months. I don't know what it is for First Class. You have to go into the post office for that. Don't tell them the real value.

You don't have to go into the post office, you can go through the entire process over the phone.

As chicagoIL said, don't say anything about the value. If they mention the value just confirm the value you declared. You won't be getting any money back since you didn't insure the shipment.

First Class mail tends to be like this if you did not insure and track the package, sadly.
