How long to wait to sell on new Account?

Honestly, how long do you really need to wait to sell on a new account? I wanted to list a few household items I have on a brand new account I created tonight, no Vero. I want to create about 5 more accounts tonight and start selling on at least 2 of them this weekend.

aspkin 02-05-2009 12:35 AM

A few house hold items, no VeRO? You're fine list away.

Burst 02-05-2009 06:19 AM

For vero a month is sufficient. However if youre in a tough spot a week or so with one item a week should be fine if listed properly.

Not that Id know anything about that.

Freedom 03-10-2009 12:24 AM

how long before you can list a laptop?

GreenBean 03-10-2009 12:32 AM

laptop= high risk item= ?flags. Have at least 10 feedback & a great story ;)

aquariusvc 03-14-2009 07:07 AM

all no high risk item you can start immediately after register eBay user name success :D

RobFagles 03-14-2009 12:33 PM

If you sell a high risk item, eBay will be calling you about it.

In my case, I made a new account and listed an iPhone about 1 hour after creation.

I got a call from eBay asking my email address, username, item listed, and date of birth.

Make sure you have all of that handy when you list something high risk really quickly!

This has been stated MANY times in this forum.
I have stated this MANY times in this forum myself.

For a "New" eBay account you should wait at least 30 days before attempting to sell ANY "High Risk" or "VERO" type of item.

I have accounts that are currently aging for this very reason.
I have accounts that are over 9 months old that have NEVER been used.

Learn to plan ahead if you are going to play the "High Risk" or "VERO" game.

Thanks for the help, this can be closed.

HWGA, the point I'm making is that it's possible to sell high risk items quickly.

My account is still going strong, even though the iPhone was listed only one hour after the account creation.

GreenBean 03-14-2009 06:35 PM

To a degree you are correct. But it has been proven that those users who carry out the steps outlined by Here We Go Again have less problems. Ergo, waiting as he suggested is
better. Have to consider a broad range of users that may not be knowledgable. If the advice is there as outlined, it will save my crying when I read the post 'I listed a vero item
10 minutes after i made the account& now I am suspended/limited so what should i do.' ;)

Fine...
Do what ever you want to.
Open new accounts - wait 4 minutes and then start listing Channel and iPhones.
When you account goes NARU a hour before the auctions or 2 hours after the auction closes do not come on here asking:
"Why did my account get suspended, I did what the book said"

GreenBean 03-14-2009 06:53 PM

How they will cry.

importracer150 03-14-2009 08:00 PM

I got 75 back up accounts now resting.

aking 03-14-2009 08:57 PM

speaking of back up accounts, i think i will "put some in the oven" tomorrow. :)

RobFagles 03-14-2009 09:39 PM

I'm not saying I don't wait, and I don't intend to start a war here on this thread.

I'm making backup accounts each day...I was just saying that it is possible to successfully begin selling high risk items very quickly without suspension.

Here We Go Again 03-14-2009 11:41 PM

^^^^^^^^
You can begin selling high risk items very quickly but your account will NOT last very long.

You are NEW here....
My suggestion would be for you to STOP trying to contradict everything that senior member are saying.
You might get further in life.

doughboykilla 03-15-2009 04:10 PM

I start off as soon as i make the account. But i start of slow and cheap

lakeman 03-15-2009 04:13 PM

What do most of you guys start selling on a new account? I've read about things you find around your house, but what are the other options?

GreenBean 03-15-2009 04:24 PM

Lakeman, here's a good thread. Will give you a great slant on starting. Worked VERY VERY well on my new accounts.:thumb:

new account high ticket items

new to this.. i opened up a new account and i'm wondering if i should pace myself and how quick i can turn up the heat. my average auction sale is about $50. i've never had any issues with vero so i don't think the items are high risk, but some are high dollar amounts ($500+). i would like to get about 1800 auctions running ASAP. approximately 600 unique items in 3 different listing formats. suggestions?
