How does a seller like this actually sell anything?
 

In doing research to price an item I have, I came across this seller and checked out all the things he has listed.

Does a seller like this actually sell anything? It looks like his grandparents died, and he listed every piece of crap he found in cleaning out their house for at least $50 an item! They majority of these items one could find for a tenth of the price elsewhere.

So is there some trick or something I don't know about going on here? Is this guy just listing crap with high prices to launder money? Does anyone have any thoughts?

MY own thoughts on this seller? He's listing his stuff - do I make money off of it? No so I don't care - I will peruse his wares to see if he has a bargain but I focus on my own sales.

Oh, I'm sorry.

I would guess so that people aren't accidently directed when they are not prepared for IP switching / account reasons?

My mistake... I'm only running one account at the moment, so I may be a little less mindful about that sort of thing.

Exactly - ppl accidentally clicking links while on their eb accounts...not a good feeling.

And realdeals has a true idea....best offer could be used by interested buyers.

whos to say he/shes not picking these items up for a couple of $ at yard sales etc listing them high with option of best offer, and happily walking away with profit. Look at his feedback, it says "best offer accepted" good way of getting interest in your items.

After looking at some of the items, it would seem to me that he's not clearing out some house or anything. These items were purchased with intent to make a profit.

It really seems that he might be just buying those items for a couple of $ and re-selling them for a good profit.
Should you care if he really manages to sell some for those prices? I don't think so.

Its not that I care... I'm just wondering if it works. I've got all sorts of stuff that I could list at a price that seems way over-valued. I only have a 40 item limit now, but when that goes up, if I can list junk that I would usually throw in a bag for goodwill and it sells, than I would be interested in doing so.

But the price he is set at will not be the price he is likely to sell for. It is literally just a place holder so people make offers.

It can work. Just as every ebay selling option can.

He still seems over priced as he has only had 24 or so ratings the last 12 months despite having 600+ items listed, so doesn't sell much.

A lot depends on what is being sold.

If I am selling collectables though I will search previous sales on ebay, and pitch at top end+ and invite offers. A lot of it is knowing your product and knowing your market.

Also remember a seller who is buying stock with the intention of making profit is going to have far different expectations and needs to a seller just clearing stuff out from around the house or an inheritance.
