selling my business, what's it worth, where to sell?
 

Hello all

I might be looking at selling my automotive business - which is combined of a legit website + a stealth ebay account. It is projected to net profit at around £25k - £30k for the next finical year.

Just wondering what prices should I be aiming at selling it for?

Where would be the best place to sell the business?

Also, being stealth ebay account, that would mean that to run both the legit site and ebay stealth account, clearing IP and swapping users is a must. Is this necessary to explain to the next new owner about this?

What were your previous years turnover/profit?

Is it just websites?

If you don't tell the potential buyer that he has to do stealth tactics, the account will fail.

If I was buying a business and the seller told me I had to do stealth, I would not buy.

Maybe try list on Gumtree?

Why not get a professional evaluation? Otherwise you would need to put out a lot of info for insightful discussion..

If it is a business account... would the buyer be able to change the information to their own and be okay, so long as they don't have issues with eB / PP themselves?

The past 3 years have made a steady £18-20k per annum

Next years projection is based on the sales boost from stealth.

It is just a website - no office or warehouse as needed yet.

does hold stock if this is what your refering to inventory

it was in the planning, but due to personal reasons, i may be leaving the country..

I was also thinking something along the lines of - upon exchange, the new owner uses his own paypal account and bank account for my legit business website. Then he continue to use the my existing ebay and paypal details for stealth.. So he can even transfer paypal balance directly to his new bank account too..

Whats your thoughts? did i miss anything?

20k a year, why not hire someone to do the work for you and keep the business?

If it is just a business, it is usually sold for a 2 year profit.

To be honest, I did think of it. If I was to give 16k salary a year to replace me to do the job, that would only leave me with less than 10k profit, which I can hardly live on. So probably will have aim for a net profit of around 40k in order to be able to process with plan? What are your thoughts?

Why not expand the business for another year or two, hire somebody to work on the sales and take a step back, have a steady income all year around and then sell when you feel the need and are in a position where you can provide the new owner legit proof of past year or two earnings?
Sounds like you had an idea, proved that you can make money but now want to sell quick because either you are too lazy to expand and protect yourself from the competition or because you don't see long term future for the company.

As a buyer, I would most likely not consider buying a company that is virtually in its startup phase.

Seems to be a bit of a flaw here as the net profit doesn't appear to allow for a wage to be coming out, or rather what you call the net profit is the wage.

Nobody can value a business at £40k if all it is going to return is the 'national living wage'.

I wouldn't pay £40k to work in Lidls for £9.50 an hour.

I really don't see selling a business with a load of stealth accounts as viable lol.

Personally think you'd get sued to shti if anything went wrong but even ignoring that its going to devalue the business massively, 99% of people won't be interested in a business with a load of ebay/paypal accounts in fa ke names lol

ok assumed its more than 1 seeing as thats pretty much rule 1 of stealth.

We don't have eins in the UK, already had a little argument with a mod and had my posts deleted over the fact that sending pictures of fa ke government ID's might not be entirely legal so not going into that again.

Like I said though, 99% of people won't be interested in a business that has a big chunk of its income coming from account/s in fa ke names and addresses. I know I wouldn't of been before finding this forum and even now I'd still pay less

yep stealth account and real account for sale as legit dose not work for me..
you do know the stealth account has someone else's name and address. ?how do you explain that to a real buyer.
and and swapping users and ip's if someone told me that i would run a mile..
If i was you just stick to the legit website and forget about the stealth ebay account..
it could come back and bite you on the ass..

I agree with what your saying. It's actually what I am planning to do now - to hire someone at some point. But I am a bit concerned with hiring people, ie. trusting them to do the work and to do work correctly. Any tips on hiring (or management) ?

I only have one stealth - I know it's risky, But I know 110% what I am doing, and 2 years so far with stealth not had any problems.

On exchange:
-Legit website - details changed to new owner, with new paypal
-stealth Account - sold with stealth ebay acc + paypal account

mate, the only reasonable advise here could be - try to find some one who is in same area of business and offer it to him on some "special conditions".

nobody in clear mind will not buy a business without accountant / documentation / P&L sheets and legit documentation.

all kind of stealth, this is a "monkey business" and there is a value only for you, as you know it, but do you think anyone will pay you 20 k or even 10 k , or even 5 k being risking banned already tomorrow and not having an opportunity to be a full legit.

so you need to get a different approach in selling your business.

as an example, I have 3 shops, all top rated, with constant net profit 3000 gbp , but due to some "special circumstances" i don`t think that selling price of 10 000 gbp for all three shops would be interesting to someone.

But you are in absolutely different "money category", so forget about 20 000 k , or even 10 000 k .. this is a dream )
