PayPal requiring SSN and EIN both, no exceptions
 

Okay, so I am being asked for both an EIN and SSN on PayPal. It doesn't matter if I start with a personal account and upgrade or if I just register for a business account upfront. Either way, they want the SSN and quote some patriot act.

I have scoured these forums for a couple hours and all I see are discussions with no solutions on this topic. The only thing I can come up with is to enter my EIN and the last four digits of my EIN again when PayPal asks on the verification patriot act screen.

What is everyone else doing about this?

When creating a personal or premier account you should not be getting asked to use a SS# , if they are requiring a SS# u may want to go over your steps in creating the account

I'm not going to call you wrong, but the last 3 accounts I've upgraded from personal to business were persistent about getting the EIN + SSN, not just one. And there have been at least 50 threads in the past 6 months that were identical to this one.

OP - Just do what you said. It works. Please keep quiet about it though.

Im having the same issue. Upgraded to Business after required to keep accepting payments as was around 100 sales and 6k in total sales. I received my EIN from IRS after registering on there as a single person LLC, Waited 2 weeks, made sure it passed the TIN matching program and entered info on Paypal. I got past that page and then got the Patriot Act asking for last 4 of SSN and Date of birth of the stealth name on the account. Of course I dont have SSN or Date of Birth of the stealth Name on the account. WHat have you done in this situation to get it to go through? Id be willing to work something out with you for the correct info :) Please advise. thank you!!

They've always asked me for one or the other, not both, but I haven't done a new one in about 6 months, so this may be a new thing...

We had to provide both SSN & EIN. For business account. Not sure if this is common though.

Lots of people saying this is so, and phaz0rz is absolutely reliable.
