The latest Scam!

Ok I am coming across the latest scam... I guess I will call it the "long scam"...

People are waiting 90+ days after post office and ebay purge tracking numbers and then claim "item not received"...

How to get around this? These are people from November and December...

I read up on USPS and they purge tracking after 90 days and so does ebay. After 3 months anyone can open a paypal claim that item not received and we can do nothing about it because we cant prove delivery! This is madness!

Yes not only ebay is amazon this is why all shipped must have signature.

This is interesting, I guess we need to start taking screenshots or something. I wonder if the USPS would have the ability to look back at that tracking and see if it was delivered.

That's what I'm trying to figure out... However the workers here are clueless... I have a 2 friend that works in postal department. I will ask them later cause this is bonkers...

I cant have everyone sign. Yea if I am selling a $200 items. However I sell over 1000 items a month. That's thousands of dollars in extra costs a month, tens of thousands a year. Its easier to cover the loss at that expense. The point being is we should have this trouble. Either ebay needs to change purges from 90 days to 180 days or something of that nature.

I cant be the sole person that this is happening too.... I hope someone else chimes in....

Screen shot is a very good idea

That is a lot of extra work that should not fall on us. This is not the 70's. This should be an easy technological fix.

eB needs to revamp on their end - 90 days post and then can still manually open up claim pfft

I don't think this has happened to me yet, but I can see the potential for competitors destroying each other using this scammology.

For the most part the only 90+ day customers I deal with are people who have broken what they bought and want replacements. Some of the time it's obviously a scam.. but we are kind of forced to get along with buyers.

I need to check but the tracking number should still be in each transaction detail in Paypal

The latest Scam!

I just checked a paypal account and looked up October 2015 and all transactions were there with eBay item information, and detailed paypal transaction with the tracking number that i clicked on and it went to USPS site and showed delivered with the entire scan history in the tracking.

So that was 5 months ago the transaction was oct 5 i looked up and the tracking info was still there in paypal and also USPS, so they dont erase that info after 90 days

I think the 180 day rule for chargebacks is ridiculous. I think 90 days is long enough. It is like they want to give customers an extended warranty period. And more and more people are abusing it.

What I can't stand is the customers who never give you a chance to resolve an issue, they just open a chargeback. THAT should not be allowed.

Not sure if your aware but there are screenshot programs that automatically take the screenshot and save the screenshot without the need of a photo program. I know this would still require a few more minutes of work but it might help since your selling high dollar items.

I save ALL receipts from my post office, so it is not an issue for me.

Re: The latest Scam!

Save receipts, Take screen shot of item thats been signed for, give ebay/amazon/PP post office/couriers number as they can access this information and provide proof if necessary that it had been signed for.

Re: The latest Scam!

EB/PP won't accept a screen shot. It must be available on USPS.com. On the other hand, I too find my tracking is mostly online longer than 3 months.

This is the kind of risk they choose to expose you to, and they won't allow you to mitigate it.

Smart move - I usually scan and save.

Re: The latest Scam!

The only way to get a receipt from the Post Office is to physically get in line and have them scan all your packages, not sure if that's gonna work for some people.

Wow. Never had this problem but I can see it being a problem. Is this something that happens to large volume sellers or anybody?
