Is Etsy the new way of doing things? Ecommerce nightmare?

Etsy requires a social security number and a bank account in order to register. There's no way around that so why doesn't eBay and Amazon do this?

I'm always expecting changes to occur so I can make my adjustments ahead of time. Just wondering what you guys thought. And what would be the way to get around this if it does happen?

If other platforms do this, they would lose lots of money, look at etsy's earnings, negative.
