Stripe payment processor: Stealth possible?
 

Simple question.

On Amazon, although your SS# is eventually required, we get around this via EIN. Can we do the same with Stripe?

never tried. but str.ipe is an incredibly deceptive company. they will lock up your money instantly with no recourse and blame all issues on their banking partners. i run a legitimate business and they held my money for 120 days to "protect" themselves of potential refunds. they blamed me for not following their TOS. there was no review, unlike what PP will do for its sellers.

str.ipe also places all blame on you when anything happens with a customer and will not step in like PP. meaning you have to submit all kinds of information which they then forward to the bank to fight chargebacks. PP does this automatically for you. Str.ipe also charge you a return fee of $15 for EVERY chargeback.

again, this company this completely hands-off when anything goes awry and are very evasive with assisting their sellers. the only good thing about them is that they are like other normal payment processors and do not have a silly case system like PP that encourages customers to f*ck over sellers.

no one here ever talks about st.ripe and i didnt notice this was from april. so i doubt you will get an answer.

Some sites (Etsy) require third party credit card processing now, hence the question.

yea, if youre a n00b, they require that.

and et.sy's processor is a shxt show. im surprised you dont know how to avoid that.

Honestly never even tried. My GF sells on Etsy, crafty stuff, makes candles etc....been trying forever to get her into the eCommerce game. Just want to have a backup. Can you PM me the details?

Did they lock things up right away ?
I was kind of excited about trying them out.
Not a stealth account, fully verified already.

Yes, they did. No recourse, no review, nothing. I was blown away that someone could be worse than PP. So, this is just my fair warning to everyone.


If they decide they do not like what you sell, for whatever reason, legit or not, they can immediately lock the account and force you to wait a minimum of 90 days with no explanation. For me, it was 120 which is what makes it even worse. It literally seemed like they were making up the rules as they go.

I tried stripe for some cc processing up in Canada - I agree with unkown, bit sketch on set rules

I was with st.rip.e for a very long time and i honestly thought it's a jackpot for payment processing, they seemed very relaxed about everything, they never contacted me from the day of registration till the day i got suspended year later.
Watch your chargeback % and you should be fine.

Only downside is that they have high card decline rate, for me about 10% of all payments were declined, maybe it's due to the nature of business i don't know.
