Feedback's impact on search ratings

So I just received my first negative feedback on Friday. I usually have my auctions end on Sunday evenings. It seemed this Sunday that my views and sales were both down. Has anyone observed that getting a neg hurts your search ranking?

nope. Stop being greedy anyway, share the sale prices around so you can all have pizza, socialism is the way forward imo

negative and neutral feedback does impact your search rankings.

Yeah for sure..

Would you guys consider it worth ten bucks to get the buyer to revise their feedback?

My monthly sales are around $500-$750, if that makes a difference in your consideration to if it is worthwhile to get the feedback revised.

Dan - Big Boss has allowed us some leeway in political discussion in the "Everything Else" board. It really should not spill into practical discussions elsewhere on the forums.

It really depends on a few things such as what percentage it is, age of account, etc..

I got my first negative today in over a year. I dont think it will effect anything at all.

About 5 months old, 99.4% positive, Item as described and Communication DSRs now at 4.9, 1 Defect in 99 total sales to date (for out of stock)

If you consider it worthwhile on your psyche to offer 10$ to revise feedback AND the buyer complies, go for it.

I try throwing money at the problem any time I get a negative, and it works 90% of the time. As long as it won't break you I'd try getting that guy to revise for a refund and/or replacement.

Re: Feedback's impact on search ratings

Agree with the above, either offer money and / or replacement and more replacements for him to keep as spares. And asks him to revise feedback.

99% of the time, it works.

It's funny that most of the time we offer replacements, and you get the same sort of reply from buyers. ie. "look here, I really am not pleased with your product, I dont want to sound like I am being greedy, but I will take your refund and replacements then I will revise your feedback,"

There are a lot of greedy B@stards out there, losing out a small sale with a revised feedback will get you and your business a long way.

Its not about my psyche, so much as it is search rankings

I honestly think the biggest factor for search rankings is your amount of sales..feedback also but sales are huge

Re: Feedback's impact on search ratings

My negative this week had no clear effect on sales. It is only on an account that has a few hundred feedback. 99.7% positive. Still top rates plus with no defects.

I think you really need to drop down below 98% to have a big effect.

My newer accounts get way more traffic than my oldest accounts. Jus sayin.

Newer meaning under 30 days or 90 days?

Absolutely for sure is the case if you are selling with fixed price listings. Big and older accounts get throttled.

Re: Feedback's impact on search ratings

Yeah I do all fixed price. I think accounts get the most traffic between 90 and 180 days. They get really heavy traffic when they're new too, but I limit sales for the first 90 days to avoid mc011's. I've also noticed that certain items will fly off the shelves with one account and barely sell at all on another account with similar stats.

The good thing about the bigger/older accounts is the higher selling limits. I'd rather get steady sales throughout the month than blow through a 1000 item selling limit in 3 days.

Phaz0rz,

What is the rate u sell to get mc011? To tell u the truth, i don't even know what that is because I've never gotten one. But on the flip side, got one of my accounts limited yesterday.

It hasn't happened to me many times.. I was more or less testing the boundaries when I got those limitations.

$1500 in the first month of sales will do the trick most of the time. Not every time though because I have started other accounts that way successfully.

That whole thing everyone here says about $1000 1st month, $2000 2nd month, $4000 3rd month, and then unlimited after that actually has merit to it.

Ok, thx for this. Are your items ranging to the 40-60 dollar range? I sold items, bin, 16 sales in 5 days, then boom, PayPal limited, I was like crap.

I'm closer to the 10-25 range mostly, and my limitation came from Ebay. Why did Paypal say they limited your account?

Re: Feedback's impact on search ratings

If you call in Glacier, they may only want to know where your items came from and that you are shipping the items with success. Just because you get a full request does not mean that is what you have to do.

I like when accounts have that because they are very strong afterwards.
