How do you improve the star rating for communication etc
 

I have no idea why but my dsr communication rating 4.25 stars...the only other one that isnt 5 stars is item as described which is 4.5

I know since the February change these things dont effect your dsr rating, but I wanted to know just in general how to improve these..do they just improve as time goes by and you sell more and more items?

You worry far too much.

I never bother communicating unless I have to. There are enough responses to the buyer from ebay and paypal about the transaction, no need for me to add to it.

Just sell more. Unless you are hassling buyers, begging for feedback, asking people for positives instead of neutrals or negatives, then your rating will likely increase. Don't think after 20 sales any of my communications ratings on my stealths ever get below 4.8 and normally they stay at 4.9+.

Thanks, I have 4.25 on communication right now, so your saying it can potentially go back to 4.9 or so after say another 100 transactions?

Obviously that would depend on how many transactions you have had to get you to the 4.25 stage. :nerd:

Do you have automatic messaging when marking items as shipped, accepting orders ect. ?

How exactly would I go about doing this?

I know that when I pay for shipping the tracking number is automatically uploaded to ebay..but this is probably not what you mean?

Not sure where you get the 4.25 from then because you should either be 42 or 43.

So what do you think you are you doing to get marked so low? If you have 4.3 that would mean for example 8x5, 1x2, 1x1 or maybe 6x5 3x4 1x1....

Anyway, yes if you can average 4.95 the next 90 sales that would bring you up to 4.88 a.k.a 4.9.

I believe he was asking you, such that you could turn it off if you did. The buyer only gets a chance to give you a DSR on communication if you communicate with them.

If they initiate communication, then answer them quickly and satisfactorily.

You should not initiate communication without good reason, as this opens the door for the buyer to be able to give you a rating on communication.

The only way to improve it is to communicate with your buyers to their satisfaction. It is an average of the ratings you've been given, so the more 5 star ratings you get, the better your average will get.

Account settings - Manage Communications with buyers - etc.

Basically just automatically sends a message to your buyer notifying them that their order has been processed when you mark the order as 'shipped'

Might now do much, but makes your eBay store much more profesional, and I haven't ordered from an eBay shop that didn't already do this.

Where did you hear this? Unless the automated emails Ebay sends to buyers counts as initiating communication, then what you said isn't right. I only say this because I have an account with a little over 6k feedback, and that account has right over 5900 communication ratings. I try to avoid communicating with customers whenever possible so there is no way I've contacted 98% of my customers first.

IF you have NO communication AFTER payment has been made you get an automatic five stars.

Dont want low star ratings, dont make the buyer contact you and dont contact the buyer from ebay messages.
