Running a private and business account
 

Hi guys,

I have been running a private and business account for about 1 year now.

eBay policy allows you to operate one of each but obviously having been suspended more times than I can remember always keen to stay under the radar as much as possible and not raise any red flags.

However my experience so far has been fine. I have slightly different details and names in both the accounts but I regularly log in multiple times back and forth on both the computer and mobile app.

I was surprised there were not more prompts to provide security information at some point.

Each eBay account has its own Paypal account with matching details.

After being thoughtful before thinking about logging in each time I now recklessly log in however I want between each account.

In my favour is the fact that both accounts are in good standing.

Do they regularly flag multiple log ins for two accounts?

Im guessing that if one account does get a problem then the other will fall with it.

If by reckless log ins you mean not changing and tracking ip's then yes you would be guessing right.

Very interesting, and promissing for someone trying to bring back to life an old business and keep a personal account... both mine with actual info, and slightly different names / different addresses like yourself.

I also logged in a handful of times between the accounts, one after another when I didn't know any better, and no linkage yet. My business has been limited, but hoping to keep the original personal with even higher sales.

Try not to grasp at straws.

Linking accounts is known to flop.

It usually flops when sellers have mega bucks in their paypal, and a permanent limit happens.

The method fails stealth rules.

Avoid the risk.

How long are we talking, OP? You logged in... for months with no permanant link? I logged in 5-6 times before I knew any better... and as of now it looks fine. But again like you none of my details match, despite being both 'mine'.

A year he has had the accounts but just recently started recklessly logging in and out of both accounts.

About a year have been logging in back and forth from each account.

I have been so busy that I didnt have the time to consider the stealth rules like which computer or user account have you logged in from, Ip links.

So I just started to log in back and forth on both the private and business account.

I keep the accounts in good standing in every sense and resolve any issues as quickly as I can.

The business account is filled with approx 70 active items that are all in the same classification, and eBay love this so this is in my favour.

The private account is all the bits of toot that I don't deem appropriate to put on the business account.

So far no problems. Have even called eBay many times to talk about the account.

So am continuing with the multiple log in on both accounts as there is no point in changing it now.

Will update if any issues come from this.

Still always good to get in the habit of operating a la stealth - whether "no point" as you see it right now...
