Advice with lying buyer. What do you think I should do?

I manufacture and sell autobody parts.

I have a 100% rating with 100's of transactions. I sold an item to a buyer for $199.99. The parts are unpainted, meaning they need to be brought to a bodyshop, and painted to match the color of your car, and installed to your vehicle. The natural color of the product is a matte black finish.

The buyer thought it would "look cool" to install them "as is" with no paint finish on them. He installed them incorrectly. He drove around with them and the parts fell off the vehicle causing them to crack. He then said he tried to glue them back together and they look bad because of it.

He left me a negative feedback saying "parts need to be painted, parts broke with 3lbs of pressure, junk chinese parts".

Now I manufacture my own products in USA, and in my auction it states everywhere parts need to be painted and professionally installed. He is obviously lying trying to get his money back because he is an idiot.

Should I refund him? OR is this a case I could actually win? Its the bad feedback that angers me the most. I sent him a feedback revision and got no response.

Request pictures of the broken item OR to send it back for a refund. Don't just let him keep the part and get his money.

I think there's a good chance you could have easily had that feedback removed by calling in. You probably still could.. just make the call. Even if Ebay wouldn't help you, never waste a feedback revision request without the buyer first agreeing to revise (since we're given such a limited amount of them).

As for the item, I think you would have a good chance of winning a case if you have evidence (e.g. screenshots) of ALL of your communication with the buyer. I'm assuming the broken part is of little value to you now, so you would just be wasting your money by having the buyer return it. If I were you, I'd fight. Inform Ebay that the buyer neglected your instructions, and the part was broken as a result.

How did it crack to pieces? Paint won't magically hold it together. Sounds poorly made, they compared the craftsmanship to a 10yo Asian

No difference installing painted or non... Who cares if it's painted if it's cheap it's cheap.

Ask the buyer to return for a full refund if you cannot get the neg feedback removed.

I called eBay and they removed the feedback. They also closed the dispute.

And yes paint does make difference. The plastic has mold release on it. During the painting stage this gets removed by a body shop using proper chemicals.

He applied adhesive tape to a greasy part which is why it fell off because it did not bond correctly.

Made me feel really good eBay sided with me for change

Block that buyer too.

Well Done for getting the victory.
Even more well done, for manufacturing within the US!!!!

Best Wishes for the future.
