Mozilla Thunderbird Mail - (2016 Thread)

I am probably the only person on the forum who manages all their mail for stealth direct from one app on their phone. Now I'm thinking of doing it on my desktop PC as well as my phone. Was using Outlook pre-stealth, loved it, and completely forgot about as it was difficult to block images, hence wasn't stealth friendly.

I have pretty much read all the threads related to Thunderbird, but a lot of the threads are outdated (pre 2012 etc.) and there are also a lot of conflicting statements. I also feel things have changed since, hence the fresh new thread. :)

So Questions:

1} Is Thunderbird the best, or is there something better?

2} When you add all your stealth email accounts, do you need to adjust any of the default settings so that is becomes stealth friendly? Heard it blocks images/beacons by default, not sure how true this is.

3} Is replying back to ebay messages via Thunderbird email (considering its GMAIL) safe to do?, bearing in mind this is common practice for those using GMAIL app on phones.

4} The portable aspect I have been hearing, basically means you can install into a folder, and move it around, correct? Any other advantages to it, other than moving it around?

Also, anything else worth noting?

Thanks for reading! :coffee:

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird Mail - (2016 Thread)

I personally can't stand thunderbird because of the instability of the software. When too many emails coming in, it crashes and doesn't collect anymore emails, happens all the time for me, reinstall, then it's fine, then it downloads all the messages, could take a day to get it all.

I have it forwarded to one email and get my emails from that one email and use the mail app on my iPhone and MacBook. Very stable, but u gotta set to images loading turned off. Thunderbird has this by default, so I guess it's stealth by default, but overall unstable for me.

I have never had this problem with thunderbird. Thunderbird is a godsend for stealth. Easily access all my emails in just 1 minute.

I guess if you have like 50,000 emails it starts being a problem. But a lot of it was stealth from long ago, plus a lot of eBay spam.

Thanks for all the responses. Does anyone know if replying back to ebay messages via Thunderbird email is safe?

I have been doing it for around 2 months, no problem so far.

Worth noting however, all my mail accounts are with GMAIL, who don't reveal your IP whatsoever. Tried and tested this theory.

So when you hit reply from thunderbird, it goes via GMAIL, then gets sent to eBay. Since it goes through GMAIL, your IP changes to theirs. Not all mail providers do this however, and so I can't truly comment on how well it works with others.

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird Mail - (2016 Thread)

This what i found on this ...

If the Gmail web based client is used, the originating IP address is not exposed since the actual SMTP email "envelope" originated from Google itself. However, if you use an SMTP based Mail User Agent (like the "Mail" app on the iPhone or Thunderbird on a PC), the IP address of the sending device will be exposed in the SMTP headers.

So answering from tbird wud infact expose my whole operation :spy::spy::spy:

I have just tested this, and you are in fact 100% right. When an email doesn't go directly through GMAIL's website, it reveals your IP.

On the bright side, eBay don't look at those IPs.

Until they do.. just dont want someone to read that and link 40 accounts using tbird

learn something new everyday =P

i guess general consensus is you can read the emails but dont respond to them through tbird.

and have images turned off on tbird to stay safe.
