Default How do some of you guys manage to compete with china ebay sellers?

It's obviously tough when your supplier country (china) is selling on ebay for a quarter of YOUR price.

However despite many sellers pushing items from china for a fraction of the price, I still see U.S. sellers who are selling the SAME EXACT item for 2 to 3x the price doing relatively well.

Is this simply because people don't trust chinese sellers/ don't feel like waiting the extra shipping time?
Do the buyers get hit with possible unforseen duty costs so it actually ends up being the same cost if they purchased from a U.S seller?

Input is appreciated.
Thanks

Eventually people get tired of waiting 15-30 days for items, also.....I usually will make sure to point out that they can get their item in 4-5 days instead of 30 AND the item is shipped with care and so forth. I always put, "USA SELLER" and similar words.

For US buyers, they may spend more and purchase from US sellers, but for international buyers,we are more competitive if we are selling the same item.USPS rate is incredibly expensive on international shipping, and sometimes it may take longer than from China.

You find items that aren't in those categories.

On Amazon I avoid international sellers unless in no hurry. It easy to tell on shipping times. I than look for states closest to me so if list that helps too. Alot of Amazon sellers do not list either.

I avoid ebay unless only place where offered.

ebay is one of the most competitive marketplaces on earth. To stay in the game, you have to have a competitive edge.

That means every time you say you can't do something, you have to be willing to take the t off, and finding a way you can.

I often buy things double price cause I cant wait 2-4 weeks for item. 2xReally Cheap = Relatively cheap

So I'm ok with that.

My daughters buy phone cases and are willing to wait 30 days for that $1 phone case cause they have limited funds = Me

Few weeks ago, I bought 5-6 directories & thesaurus on Amazon for under $30. Most were under $1 plus $3.99 s&h and most the sellers lost money as they were paying $6-10 ship them as I ordered hardcover with 1500-2200 pages each. Now I ordering bunch military history books after seeing my public library has sorry collection of books. Mean when I have 10-50 times books on most topic interested in. Was looking books how make money online they only had books on ebay.

Get good deals if in no hurry.

Exactly what MM78 said, MAKE SURE to put USA Seller in your listing in several places. Some people are not willing to wait or take a possible chance on buying direct from China.
