Why is this item still showing as "need to be shipped"?
 

I sold an item to a buyer on the 6th, then the buyer asked me to cancel the order because they no longer wanted it.
Fair enough..I sent the cancel request with reason being buyer no longer wants item.

Today is the 9th and it still states "I need to ship 1 item" in my ebay..which is the same item. There is an eBay note below it that says "we're just waiting for the buyer to confirm they received a refund for this order."

What am I missing?
Why is it still listed as need to be shipped?
I hope I don't get a point against me for "late shipping"

So confirm you refunded it.

I don't understand your question. Just do what ebay asked you to do?

Well it says waiting for the buyer to confirm they received a refund for the order...then I click on see details and it says well ask the buyer to confirm the cancel buyer has up to 10 days to confirm.

Also when I click the more actions tab there's no refund option

Sounds like a call into ebay is in order. I have no idea.

Does the listing show as "Buyer has paid with Paypal" or "Buyer marked as Payment Sent" - anything like that show up? Or is the option "Send Invoice" still there?

Well the check mark and dollar sign are filled in...so I am assuming they did pay..it's weird..I think I'll call ebay

There you go - so the buyerseems to have paid - if you hover your mouse on the checkmark sign, it should say "Buyer paid on so-and-so date with Paypal"; did you check your paypal? If buyer has asked for cancellation, you would need to refund the paypal payment. Seems clearer now the status of the item...

I just looked up ebays guidelines and it states when a transaction is cancelled the buyer automatically gets refunded if they paid??

But I check my PayPal for the buyer and it gives me the option to issue a refund...what the heck..so contradictory

Here's an update..I checked my paypal and it says for today the 9th status: pending "well complete the refund as soon as your original payment is processed by the bank"

I didn't look up the guidelines on automatic refunding but it seems that the buyer has not confirmed cancellation yet, is that right? Maybe that's why it has not automatically refunded him/her.

Buyer may not know about the automatic refunding policy so maybe hesitant to cancel.

Yes that's correct, but in the meantime the item still is listed as item that needs to be shipped...so if I wait another day I risk getting a mark against me for late shipment..I'll just call ebay..what a mess

Yes buyer needs to accept cancellation. Not all accounts work this way. On some it goes through automatically and others they need to accept. In this case seems they didn't accept yet. Just send them a reminder and you should not get a defect...

Running various accounts there are various differences in how things work. Its amazing! However, still the hard fact....
