Case opened 3 months later?
 

Hi,

I sold an item on March 25th (ebay USA). I didn't use tracking (I know) but that's not what I'm interested in.

A case was opened for the item not working on 15 June, that's almost 3 months later! I thought buyers had 45 days to open a case? Is there something I'm missing? How did they do it?

Any thoughts about case opening dates?

It's 180 days now on PayPal

They opened the case through ebay though, not via paypal. I thought ebay was 45 days and Paypal 180 days.

It was opened about the item not working anymore.

You can still open cases on eBay passed the deadline.

BUT, they can't be escalated to customer support.

So you either help them out, or the case will time out.

Really? Thanks for the information I didn't know that. I actually did refund them because they showed me evidence (and I was feeling charitable :pry: ) but I'll be looking out for that tip for the future, in case it happens again.

Another question. If the buyer had opened a return request after 45 days would I be able to let it pass or would that escalate to customer support?

I guess you mean "the BUYER had opened a return request" right?

After 30 days if a case is open on ebay I have the option to "Decline" also, when I see this option I know immediately that it has been over 30 days. I usually still try to work it out though if it is a legitimate problem and they address me with respect.
