Another bizarre glitch, or a sign of linking?

As many of you probably remember, I bought a new device to bring an old account back to life. ***i have yet to login to either account, buy anything, or sell anything from this device*** as I have spent my downtime stockpiling inventory.

Something really weird happened on the new device today. Not logged in, and never having logged in, I searched for an item to check it's current value. I searched sold, completed, and default sort by ending most recent first.

To my surprise, I saw one of my old items, from my old account, at the very top of the search listing.. As if it sold today. I quickly grabbed my old device to view my sale... And there wasn't one.

The item at the top of the page on my new device.... Was an unsold item from my old account that ended march 23! The item later sold... Months ago not today. So how could it show up on the top of the search results?

Is this just a bizarre glitch, and my random item happened to come up first? Or is this a sign eBay already knows who I am, and listed my item first? As far as I remember they have never done this... And when searching various other keywords I can not duplicate having my own items show up at the top of the page. Very weird that out of 365 items, to see one of my own from my other account at the top.

Sounds like more of a coincidence than a glitch. Try not to be so paranoid, lol.

If you were linked/limited/suspended/restricted/or whatever, you would instantly know about it. There's no such thing as Ebay "hinting" to you that you're linked.

Just start selling so you don't have to worry about such minor occurrences!

Super weird conicidence though! Minor heart attack now that I have so much ready to go yet not listed. I'm not past the point of no return, that's why I wanted to be sure. Never having logged in I could still burn this device too if needed.

Do you think that item was on top because it was in close proximity to your location?

I thought so, but then item number 2 was a completed from Lithuania. About as far away as you can get.

Not too worried because I tried another couple items, and could not get it to happen again. Also interestingly, usually these glitches happen on mobile. Today it's the opposite... It only happens when searched in a browser.

Now, since Mobile is acting properly, neither I nor the one from Lithuania are on top. So there's something weird going on. At one point, mine and lithania's were both purple highlited as if we paid for listing upgrade too.

Haha I have no idea how their search algorithm works, but I seriously doubt you have anything to worry about here.

Search results will always vary from account to account. Casini tries to match you up with what it thinks you are most likely to purchase.

Re: Another bizarre glitch, or a sign of linking?

Ok thanks... One other question, I plan to sell items in the same category as I can't just completely change my business plan. Even though this item was 150% different, they obviously share similar keywords for this to even happen. But there's nothing else I could call it... Other than it's name. It is what it is. Should I hold off on listing items like this incase of keyword linking? They are all used, unique items. None of the actual items from my old account will be sold, they are in a sealed box for one day in the future.

No it is my old auction. I got pissed someone copied my listing, then upon clicking saw it was my old id. Old auction from march.

This is a new device, never logged into any profile, with little to no search history or cookies of any type
