MC234 Email from Ebay UK

Hi,

The account went below standard by 0.01% for the first time in 10 years. The account name was changed to company name 4 years ago, as I didn't want the personal information showing to customers.

The account went below standard on the 20th of this month, and no warning emails from Ebay.

The account should return back to above standard as one of our customers has requested for the case defect to be removed, and ebay have agreed.

Then the email arrives from Ebay to update the personal contact info:

Copy of the email:

While verifying the contact information we have on file for you, we found that you've listed your company name in place of your personal contact name under your registration information. To remain active as an eBay member, you must have valid and up-to-date contact information listed on your account at all times. This includes having your personal name registered to your account.

-- Important --
When updating the registered name on your account, please keep in mind that as per our User Agreement it is not possible to transfer an account from one member to another. This is stated in the second section of the eBay User Agreement, titled "Using eBay."

Before this we have removed all the listing from ebay before this, and wanted to close the account.

Do you think we can wait 30 days to close the account or will it get suspended before this?

I have looked for info on this but could not find anything.

Thank you...

you have filled in the registation information wrong on ebay.
You MUST have your first and last name on ebay.

If your ebay account is a business account, it will have abox to fill in your company name as well as your first an last name.

If it is personal, then you can only show your first and last name.

Some messages give your 3 days and some give yo 14 days.

If you close the account, you will need to pay your ebay fee's first.

Dont see why you would throw away such an old account.

Thanks for a quick reply.

The account is a business account.

If I do complete the name do you think they will ask for verification and is so what info do you think they will require?

I assume they will want the same name as the original registration as it says in the email 'please keep in mind that as per our User Agreement it is not possible to transfer an account from one member to another. This is stated in the second section of the eBay User Agreement, titled "Using eBay."

I don't really want to throw the account but what worries me is that they are asking for the details to be updated so they can then issues a suspension.

I can't close the account for another 25 days until due to last transaction being less then the allowed time of 30 days.

If you have the needed paperwork for ebay, supply it and fight to keep the account.

Good Luck.

Fair point..

How do I know how long I got before the account it suspended?

As the email didn't provide any time limit..

Also what paperwork do you think they might ask for?

Any more advice from anyone?

I wonder if they are trying to get the info to suspend the account? So, that is what makes me think it's better to close the account, and start fresh..

If eBay were gonna suspend the account, they would just do so. They can make up any reason they want to. However, having had this email, you have nothing to lose by submitting the required information - it is unlikely to "create a reason for suspension".

If you do nothing, likely the account will be toast anyway.

They are not asking for any verification, you are just assuming.

People get these messages often when phone numbers dont work etc..
So all ebay wants is for you to put the first and last name in the correct place.

OP you are over thinking this. Take Bunneh's advice and you can get back to selling.

Can you not provide the name? Is this a stealth account or a real account. Seems to me you can easily fix if this is your info.
