A couple ebay shipping questions
 

I've heard ebay will buy auctions to check their sellers, is this true? And if so, has anyone ever been linked by using stamps.com and putting your real return address? As always, thanks for your help.

In my experience over the years of selling on ebay, I've had multiple purchased from ebay - but from the look of the address it just seemed like they are staff working for ebay, and just want their purchase delivered whilst at work. I assume as staff they probably get ebay gift cards for answering the most calls each day (and dishing out the most fibs).

If your item is branded, and I have encountered this, the companies who manage the protection of that particular brand will purchase from you (randomly) to ensure you are consistently selling the real deal. The same can be said for any platform, Amazon etc.

I've had Ebay purchase from me twice and have never had any problems. I was really sketched out the first time because it was a relatively large order. No problems to speak of though. I got positive feedback both times, and I swear this particular listing has been performing better since.

@phaz, could be actual eb employees who just wanted your item for sale, no? Not for work purposes...

Maybe, but I doubt it. Both purchases were gray market items which I seriously doubt any Ebay employees would be willing to resell. After the first sale I assumed they were just wanting to look at my products, but then I got another order two weeks later.

Both orders had a long ref # after the name on the first line, and a "note to seller" was left during checkout telling me it's important to include the ref # on the shipping label.

@OP - I knew because the address was "2145 Hamilton Avenue San Jose, California 9512" for both orders. The first one said something like "Greg @ Ebay Inc." and the 2nd one was just a name, but still Ebay's address.

Ah including a ref# could be related to a file open to check the product, true phaz...

I was thinking that maybe they were buying stuff for personal use. I have had various eb ppl buy collectible stuff over the years - perhaps to check as well.
