Ip address weird number!! What is this??
 

I'm currently using a VERIZON's MIFI device for my stealth accounts.... today I went to IPCHICKEN.COM to record the IP ADDRESS and I got this long and weird number.... 2600:1006:b129:8040:24da:c89c:d6b4:fdd4 ....Usually the IP ADDRESS looks something like this 70.209.24.37..... I turned off the device and restarted it thinking there was glitch somewhere but I'm getting same thing. What's going on?? Thank you...

This is happening to me too and I have already lost a few accounts because of it. Sent aspkin a pm about it.

It happens to me when I use the phone to look something up on the internet and are tethered at the same time, possibly without turning the wifi setting on the phone off before turning on the mobile hotspot function. I had this happen a few times with AT&T. If I close out what ever is using internet on the phone and turn airplane mode on and off it will give me a normal IP again. It also happens when trying to upload using something that is set to upload only on wifi, while tethered. For instance: uploading a picture to google drive from the phone while tethered.

I think the "upload only while connected to wifi" over rides the wifi off setting while tethering or something. possibly if you didnt turn the wifi off before turning on the mobile hotspot function... Not sure though. Or have any idea why it'd happen with a jetpack.

That's an IPv6 address right there. They tend to be eight groups of hexadecimal digits, and you've got just that.

Any infromation on verizon's website to say they have migrated to ipv6?

I started a thread two days ago about getting ipv6 adress, the mobile carriers have started using this formatt.

From what I picked up on from other members, even though an ipv6 format is shown, you still will also have the ipv4 format as well because websites like ebay and paypal are currently only using ipv4.

I copied and pasted a quote below which is extremely helpful, there is a link to a site that will reveal your ipv4 address even when all the normall IP sites are just showing the ipv6 format.

So save that website so u can see what your ipv4 address is because it seems the mobile carriers are changing

Can also simply disable ipv6 on your PC, so you don't get them

Yea but for these accounts that I use the Verizom mifi for, I'm using a tablet and old smartphone , not sure if I can disable it from them devices.

But after I connect to the hotspot I use that website which gives me the ipv4, so basically the only change is the website I'm using to check my Ip
