If its a stealth account and the name on the bank account doesn't match the name on the PayPal then the bank payment will fail a lot of the time.

You would then need to put though another payment manually to cover the failed payment

They don't take a partial payment. It's either all or nothing. If you have a backup funding source, they will hit that up next

but its saying on the paypal transaction, 24 from paypal balance and £36 from funding source (bank account).

it hasnt taken it yet, i have checked. if i keep it empty of funds it will just take from the paypal right? it definitely hasn't taken funds from the bank account yet. or will it just keep repeatedly trying to take it from the bank account.

if I remember correctly, it would try a couple times.

They will take what's in your paypal and the rest from your backup source.

Do you not have money in the bank account?

It doesn't always refresh that quick.

If it has already started the process of taking it from your bank account then there isn't anything that can be done to stop it

You just need to wait for it to fail and then manually make the payment from your PayPal balance

sorry to be a headache hehe, any idea how many times it trys before it fails the last thing i want is my paypal to become limited/resricted because of fee's, there £19 available now in paypal and £300 pending, should have £50-60 more available by tommorow so more than enough for fee's.

Keep in mind, paypal will remove the checking account if the payment fails a lot of times.

I pay most of my fees from a bank accounts. Never a problem yet but this is USA, not UK accounts so it may be different.

i do but i don't want them to take it out of bank as that gives ur real name which is not good even though they cant get ur personal address this way?

im planning to let it fail and for them to automatically take it from the paypal then. it is already saying completed though even though for certain nothing has been taken, maybe paypal has covered me on the fee's and they will take payment now.

Fail or not fail, the name will be show. The damage(if any at all) has already been done. Keeping a zero balance in the account will make the payment fail, twice at least and this may cause more damage because paypal may remove the account. You would then need to get another bank account or call paypal and have a rep add the account again because you can not add the same account more than once.
A chance that the account is not removed does exist. It just causes you more work with the bank, ebay and paypal if the payment fails IMO anyways.

The worst case is that the bank account gets removed. Nothing worse than that can occur. Not really sure what you are worried about. James already explained this as well.

so at this point would u recommend just leaving the £36 in the bank account and let them take it out then? at this point it wouldnt make a difference.

no point letting it fail and trying to pay through paypal then? just headache?

It is through paypal with your bank account...

No big deal really. Not sure what your concern is. I pay most of my fees this way on most of my accounts.

Is this a stealth account first of all ??? I assume it is otherwise why would you be posting in a forum.
If it is, then your name on the bank should be the same as the Paypal !

Cant really see what the problem is to be fair, if you have money going into the paypal account and there is money in the bank wait till you have the funds back in paypal and pay. The fact you have tried to pay already may have messed it up for yourself, but only temporarily its not a major problem.
If they are going to take the balance from the bank just make sure there is enough in the bank to cover the outstanding amount owed, this giving you less of a headache.

That's incorrect. You can do part from the balance and the rest from a bank account.

I would let them take the money out of the account and see if they notice the mismatch names.

That's not a partial payment. That's a split payment. If all you have is $300 and you owe $600, they won't take out $300 unless they can get the $300 from another account.

Re: eBay fees Query - please help!!

it should not fail, it has happened to me a few times over the years, by mistake obviously - the only time it failed was when it was from a saver.....

the name issue has never brought down any account either........better to avoid it, but in reality they obviously do not routinely look at the name match, or else they see it and do not care....

The name would show yes

Its not often that much of an issue though

While sometimes the payment will fail, something it will also go through. It depends on 1 - the type of bank account and 2 - how different the name on the PP is to the bank account.

I hope that this wouldn't cause you a problem with your PayPal account :(

But, using a Gift Card or VCC to pay eBay fees in advance would make things a lot easier and safer.
