Stealth will not last forever. It's only a matter of time before e-commerce platforms will have the authority to actually verify the info you give them, and at some point they'll most likely be required to do so.

There are nearly always going to be ways around the system. Where there is a will there is a way to stealth!

As soon as Paypal converts to a bank, we are done. At least those of us in USA.

The possibility of that happening is very real. Paypal secures financing for Paypal working capital loans from a bank in Utah, and Paypal credit loans from another bank. Paypal generates a large portion of their revenue from their credit services. If either of those two banks ever backs out, Paypal would have to either secure financing elsewhere (which according to Paypal themselves, is very unlikely) or convert themselves to an FDIC-backed bank. I learned all this by reading their investor financial statements a few weeks back.

We can hope existing stealth accounts would be left alone if this ever happened, but I'm doubtful. Bank regulations are strict and Paypal would likely be required to verify all open accounts.

The reason I ask is because i am trying to a grow a number of established ebay buisness on stelth acccounts, and wonder if its worth it, if all the hardwork( gaining feedback and becoming top rated seller just ends in the buisness being shut down

From a tax perspective, stealth or not, you need to pay whats due. Before you say, but this is a stealth account - there are countless threads pertaining to this topic which you should read up.

As for stealth, obstacles will continue to increase in number, and it will become more and more difficult for stealth users, but it's very unlikely it will ever disappear for good.

I am not saying don't pay your taxes btw :) However this is another reason why people should NEVER use family or friends details for stealth. :mod:
