Upgrade to eBay business account to increase selling limits?
 

Hi, my eBay account that started with 100/5000 limits got automatically upgraded to 200/10,000 today after about a year. Prior to today, when I clicked "increase selling limits" it only gave me the option to call eBay. Today when I click on it, it gives me 3 options to increase limits: link to another seller account, upgrade to business account, or call ebay.

I'm wondering if anyone has been able to increase selling limits by upgrading their eBay account to business, or if this is a new thing? I have never heard of this happening with US sellers.

If this is a stealth, you'd better avoid the last option.

Yeah, I never call them. I plan on clicking upgrade to business account, but wasn't sure if I should wait since the limits just got increased.

You can definitely get higher limits by upgrading to a business account :)

List 5-6 auctions all in a couple hours this too will trigger a raise in limits ..

Most likely when you select whatever option to increase limits u will not get an increase if you just received one.

I read this and checked out my account. signed up for the business and got a 50k limit from 500 lol.

When you upgrade to a business account from a personal account, you have to change your email and essentially have a new PayPal account, so you have to be careful with that.

Upgrading to business account only goes smoothly when you're actually using legitimate names/companies. You can do it the way you're doing it also if it's stealth, but you have to be careful.

I personally used a lot of stealth personal accounts and just stay under the radar. The one account that I did not (just to see what would happen)...right now, because I had tried to upgrade to business account became immediately limited on PayPal, but only because the computer thinks I might go over the $20,000 annual threshold. It is not totally limited, because I am able to withdraw funds whereas many times if PayPal has some type of issue, your funds are frozen.

How long did it take before ebay increased your limits? I tried that "upgrade to business account" option and at the end it gave me a message saying that they are reviewing the information and would send me the result in a few minutes. Definitely been longer than "a few minutes".

Do NOT link to another selling account unless you are already sharing a PayPal with this account..(ebay will know this)... having a personal account - you cannot raise limits by asking. eBay do it automatically ....bear in mind that a private seller does not have the same legal limitations to selling online than a business....hence eBay wanting you to change. also, you will not get two raises in the same month...all of this is just my personal experience.

Of course I would never link to another account...I solely meant using the "upgrade to business account" option. How long did it take for you all to receive a response from ebay about it?

each time i start an eBay...it is a Business account...I then start sub accounts off this one so I can sell stuff I don't want to take returns on. but it isn't that perfect. people have the right to return.

go ahead with the business account option.... it's the best choice in my opinion

Waiting for updates. I remember I had to write to live chat and ask my self for higher limits on my real business account.

Well ebay still hasn't given any "answer" as to the business upgrade. Been over 24 hours....so much for "a few minutes".

Hi. Any news on your upgrade?

I am thinking to upgrade to a bussiness account too. But won't they verify that you own a real business? How are you manage this guys? Or do we have to get some feedback and history before upgrading to a business account?!
I tried to upgrade to a business account once. Then they messaged me that they want proof that I own a business. I have no Business-ID that I can send them. I think that faking it will won't work too...

Nope....still never heard anything back from ebay regarding upgrading to business account.
