If I use mobile hotspot when I'm abroad next week, will it use a UK IP or one from abroad?

It will most likely use the IP in whatever Country your in....

I guess you will get a local (abroad) IP, not a UK one.

Hold on, no!

This is wrong.

I travel and access eBay and PayPal all the time.

I use Three and Tesco mobile broadband and I ALWAYS get a UK IP address.

Italy, Spain, Denmark, Germany.

Hadn't thought to check any others.

I only noticed because I was accessing BBC and getting the UK page on mobile broadband and the worldwide version with adverts on local wifi.

Checked on a variety of IP detection websites and location appears as UK.

@peghmeypong It could be possible that since you were still within the EU, and how the EU has mobile networks well regulated to avoid extreme roaming charges etc. they are replicating that network/location.

I can't see it being the same if you were to travel to China for example, or any other country outside the EU.

Could be geographical or could be the reciprocal agreements Tesco and Three have with the local networks.

I wouldn't use mobile broadband outside of a home from home/feel at home country.

Three and Tesco both have reciprocal agreements with local networks in Greece.

You should be able to use the inclusive data.

My guess is that you'd get a UK IP as its within the EU and one of the shared network countries.

When you're roaming, you always get a home IP.

That's why the ping is so high. It has to come back to your home country and go though their servers.

Yeah you should get a UK IP

I think you can buy data package but Tesco and Three are best if you can pick up a sim for now. £15 should keep you for a week.
