Hotmail - temporarily suspended - has happened twice now
 

Hotmail is turning into an annoyance.

On 2 accounts now I've gotten "temporarily suspended" notices.

I have to enter a phone number and receive a text.

Mildly annoying. I am accessing the emails thru thunderbird on an international vpn, and also logging into the VMs that I've setup to manage the accounts.

I can only assume this is the trigger, but who knows. Past the login screen I get a message about unauthorized access, check my mailboxes.

Regardless, if others are getting this, might be nice to know what the triggers are.

Never heard of that before and i use a lot of hotmail accounts.

The international? Shouldn't say. Tunneled into Luxembourg.

This vpn and the vms have no connection... different ips.

The problem you are most likely facing is the IP address that you are using from the VPN

If you are using a pretty cheap VPN then chances are the IP range is known to be used by scammers and spammers hence your issue

Ya, I can see how that might be the issue. It's know for certain types of downloading.

Use a different VPN and you should be fine

All of these big free email providers are a pain and its become more so progressively over the years.
I myself am thinking of switching to a few of the smaller (and more appreciative) service providers who will be happy to have my business and wont hassle me a fraction as much as the big companies.
