Is longer handing times or my cheap prices causing this new 21 day hold?
Okay,
One of my main accounts...
Seller account since 2011.
Top Rated.
Selling about 20k monthly.
No major issues at all.
Last month I started to list some GPUs with longer handing times-15 days.
And do to that fact a lower price than the eBay avg.
No issues besides a few cancels-From people who didn't read.
Everything sent out on time for those orders.
Only other thing to note I can think of...Last week I had someone file a paypal dispute-My first on this account...Different item but, about $750-I refunded the same day. Now for those items ONLY my funds are being held.

What has happened is that PayPal is starting to crack down on people who try to get past the 21 day holds then try to pull a "dump-and-run" with high ticket items.

Sure, let's say you sell items between $10-$30 and eventually the 21 day holds come off......then let's say for example you list an item for $90-$100.....the 21 day hold will go into effect for that item.
That being said, I am not 100% sure it would happen to everyone but that's what I have been seeing lately on the forum and on my personal accounts.

Thank you.
Hope to be off this soon.
*fingers crossed*

Naw it happened to me also I started listing more expensive items and they started to put holds on those as well like 6 or 8 months ago. It goes away after a while it's just security features they have.
It's like MM78 said, it's for those who try to list items for low prices then one day start selling high end items and bail out. 21 days is to keep people from doing so.

Yes,but to be very clear that is not whats going on here.
I have sold 20k a month on this account-For years.
Each week I have sold items from $60-$900.

Hey men, what you gonna do about it? We can't do much, paypal will always do what it wants, it's pathetic, but that's paypal. Every year they change payment policies testing things out. I can still remember when they had virtual credit cards available.

I had a similar problem in one of my stealth accounts. I think there's nothing you can do about it. Just keep selling and providing good service to your clients and the limitation will eventually be lifted.

Week one update:
This hold has nothing to do with 'expensive' items in general.
I have sold two items over 1k each today-Both had a higher handing time-No holds.
However,I listed another GPU as a test ($200) with only a one day handing time-And..BOOM funds placed on hold.

Was the $200 item in the same category as the first 2 items?
