1 day handling time.....

Trying to improve my metrics, some packages dont get scanned.....

If you have 1 day handling time for an order that comes in on Fri, must the order be scanned by Sat or Mon?

Re: 1 day handling time.....

Saturday because that is 1 day away from the time you sold it. If it was sold on Saturday then Monday is the next day.

Saturday and Sunday are not business days so it would be Monday. However, I find it a best practice to ship on all postal days. Completely up to you.

Monday is the correct answer but I always try to ship on Saturday if possible. I always try to give the best customer service I can offer.

A lot of very good answers in this thread. Always ship the next day all the way into Saturday's business cut off. You can still get a scan in usually till 430-5 depending on the carrier. In your shipping purchases, you'll know what date it sets by the date on the label. I tend to be very strict on my shipping times and even with being so tedious, only achieve around a 98.9% on-time shipping metric. It is what it is. You will always have late scans as the scans are controlled by humans that pick up your parcels and systems that can have delays.

It doesn't have to be until Monday. Like everyone else I agree to ship on Saturday if you can. Personally my items fit in the 24 Hour Postal Machine Drop boxes so anything that sells Friday night I usually drop off that night so it goes out Saturday. There is a 50/50 chance I will have a hangover on Saturday so I don't always ship orders that come in that day unless I happen pack and and catch my mail man coming to the mail box.

But, umm, the important thing is when it gets scanned. Drop off boxes don't always scan.

That is true. The 4 or 5 that I use in my country the items all seem to get scanned in so its not a problem for me. But all post offices seem to have different practices find the ones that work best for you. I have a few in my area I won't go to the service is so horrible.

Re: 1 day handling time.....

This is why these forms of metrics are flawed. You can control when you ship, but not when they are scanned. It would be better to have a scanning machine if they are going to be this anal about it.

Anyway, never had a problem with shipping times, but I have had many packages never get scanned until delivery or the end location hub.

Re: 1 day handling time.....

I print shipping using eBay. On occasion USPS will fail to scan my package. Tracking will only show up once it's delivered. Since it's within the regularly assumed USPS handling times, eBay has never given me any grief about it. It's not their first rodeo either. Don't sweat it, just get it out. You don't go wrong by doing what you say you will.

I can't count the number of times USPS hasn't scanned my package. Just consider it out of your control and do your best to ship the next day.
