I used to not be able to tell, but now it's pretty consistant. Now maybe it's how all buyers are used to the new feedback system, but I can just sense it. If the buyer is being abusive or hostile, it's a guarantee that they'll neg. I find if a buyer shoots emails back and forth being hostile or abusive, I used to answer them and now I often just ignore them if it won't lead to anything productive as the buyers like to work themselves into leaving negs or they just like to harass me to make me fear the neg before they leave it. Strangely ignoring them actually decreases the chances of negative feedback when they're abusive or hostile and even if they neg, I am not all stressed out by their abuse and nor have I wasted time shooting reading, writing, worrying, and then dealing with the even more emails. I use "buyer" loosely as this applies to non payers, too.

The only time I didn't in the last year was when a buyer came back on another account to neg me and then tried to pretend like they were somebody else in the feedback comment (they used completely different info on the account, too).

Yes I have felt it in my bones before.

I have a feeling I'm getting one on a newish account too.. the guy orders something and it's too small for him (= he's a fattie) and he said if I don't give him my return address he'll complain to paypal. 10 mins later he started an 'item not as described' dispute on paypal

Being as polite as I can to him. If he agrees on ebay that he's sending the item back for a refund, can he still leave a negative feedback?

I meant I sent the right size (biggest I have) but he can't come to terms with the fact that it's too small for him. I find a lot of my rudest customers have been the ones buying the biggest items I stock. Could it be years of torment and teasing at school then they get the chance to become a keyboard warrior and take it out on us poor sellers?

^^^ know what you mean. I always love the "I'm an xl and this 3xl is way to small for me" people.

i really hate it when people leave a NEG then try to get the issue resolved..

but to answer the OP's ?? .. yes.. always, those are the people you try to "diffuse" by kissing ass, offer to pay return shipping ETC..

I've found kissing ass only makes them more abusive and more likely to neg and pull scams. Ignoring them and answering them very slowly is the only thing that helps.
